I just recently bought this mold from midway and I have some questions. I have the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook 4th Edition and the caliber specific Complete Reloading Manual for the 44 Magnum. In both manuals they give data for the Lyman 429215. I am going out on a lim here but I am guessing because of the similar boolet types I should be able to use the same data for the reloading. The main difference between the two boolits is the Lyman has gas check. I was going to use the data with the Win 231 as my powder. In Lyman manual, it shows a OAL of 1.645. I found that if I seat it to the the top band it is at 1.580. Is this going to be problem?? I am loading 9.3 gns of the 231. Please let me know is this going to be a problem.

I use it, Lee 214, in two 44 Special revolvers, it is the consistantly most accurate boolit for 44 Special that I cast. Loading data for any cast boolit of the same weight and similar design can be extrapolated, just start low and work up, same procedure every time.

I bought a Lee 214 SWC .44 Cal Bullet mold this year. Shooting in a Ruger Superblackhawk using .44 Spl brass/7.0 Grains or red Dot---I got 1,050 FPS MV.. In a S & W Model 24---1,010 FPS--very good accuracy. The Lyman 429215 is also a superb bullet..but it uses a Gas Check. Both offer similar ballistics.

Is the difference in COL that I'm doing an issue?? I'm seating dealer than the Lyman.

In a revolver COL is not really an issue as long as the boolit is not seated so deep as to raise pressures and is not too long to fit in the chamber in the cylinder and prevent the cylinder from closing and locking or prevent the cylinder from turning when the cylinder does close and lock.

9.3 231 and the 429215 was the most accurate load I ever shot out of my old 10" TC barrel.

Velocity was 1168 fps.

For whatever reason (VERY limited testing) I never did get the Lee 429214 to shoot well.
