:D I cast about 50 1oz lee 12g slugs for the first time (First time casting as well).

Not all turned out great or even good and were sent back into the pot but, once the mold was hot enough and I kept my speed up the fill-out was much much better. Even the ones that had some waviness to them weighed in ok they just did not look as good.

Now I just need to get the right recipe for my shot shells and powder and I will be in business!

Those look just fine for 25 and 50 yard preliminary testing with the different recipes you are about to try.

Not bad at all. A good hot mold makes a huge difference. Especially on a mold with an ounce of lead in one shot. Doesn't take long to drain the pot does it??

Lizard, it took as long as my back could take and with the initial bad few it took a little longer.

OnHo PR, I don't really have a recipe yet. I have not loaded shot shells in many many years and have never loaded slugs before.

I have some new Fiocci 2 3/4" clear shells and some new RIO 3" blue shells. I bought Blue Dot thinking that it would be a good powder for slugs but I am having trouble finding data for the components I have. Oh, I have Winchester White AA wads and Winchester 12 SL wads. I also have other powders like Unique, Tight Group, Bullseye but, I think I may need to buy another powder to get this started?

Try BPI's Load of the week. I'm not sure of all your particulars, but they have published loads with the Fiocci and Rio hulls.

Thanks for the Tip OnHo PR! That is where I bought my shells, wads and buckshot. Ordered it Monday and it was at my door Tuesday! That is fast!

Sure will! I have to get more lead as I used up all the "Dental foils" that my girlfriend brought home from work. A good friend (Plumber) of mine has a 100+ Lb section of water pipe he is going to cut up for me and then I will have plenty to work with.[smilie=w:

They look as good as any I have ever cast. Good luck and have fun. BC
