Is Promo a big fluffy flake like Red Dot?

A large diameter circular flake. Load with Red Dot data BY WEIGHT not volume since it does not have the red taggants.

it varies. Since Promo is made of recycled powder, it can vary in flake size from lot to lot. That is the reason they always advise that you weigh each lot and work up loads again as it can vary in form and density pretty dramatically from lot to lot.

What's interesting is that they advise using it by weight not volume, as it is not claimed to have the same density, or weight per volume, as Red Dot.

Kinda interestingly, my most recent lot, labeled CE 0519 Dec. 8, 2009 Shift X Lot 054 is exactly the same as Red Dot in terms of throwing the same charge weight using the same pistol and shotshell bushings in my measures.

Velocity in 45 ACP using 4.7 grains under a 230 grain bullet is about 20-30 fps slower than the same weight and volume of Red Dot, which is probably close enough that it's the same or less than lot variations that occur.
