Hello to all.
I have purchased a .30M1 carbine and now is time to cast the boolits. I am undecided if I must tu use a Lee C309-120-R or a Lee C309-113-F. Or there are best moulds (always by Lee)?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Both of the Lees that you mention will work well in the carbine. The original GI Ball ammo was IIRC correctly 120 grain. There is no advantage for having any kind of meplat or flat for a bullet nose in the carbine, unless you are going to hunt with it. A RN will also feed more reliably without the possibility of hanging up when feeding. If you want to use a MV of around 1800fps you might want to consider using a gas check. Sticking with Lee is ok but there are also excellent designs on the market by RCBS, Saeco and Lyman; more pricey, but they also give good results. LLS

I use the Lee 113 F in my Blackhawk 30 carbine pistol. Stout load of H110, my own lube (beeswax, carnuba wax, lithium grease and alox, gas check. The load is accurate and does not lead my pistol. Couldn't be happier.

Consider something like this possible group buy . . .

Lyman 311410 (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=129160)

I use the Lyman 311359 (http://www.midwayusa.com/Product/661909/lyman-2-cavity-bullet-mold-311359-30-carbine-762x39mm-309-312-diameter-115-grain-pointed-tip-gas-check) and it feeds and shoots just awesome in the 30 carbine. I used it for our silhouette D-day side match this year, and it shot accurately all the way out to the 200 yard rams - and it knocked them over also!

My favorite is the Lyman 311008 but you said Lee only. I don't have any exprience there.

Word of advice. Stay away from gas checks. I am sure they will work fine but with the .30 Carbine you are going to shoot a lot more bullets than you will want to buy gas checks for.

+1. No need for a gas check. Cast them hard and you"ll be fine.

Hello to all.
First - Thanks to all for your help.
Second - I want to use the .30m1 becouse it is the carbine that I used during my training as Carabinieri's Marshal and for the fist service when I was 18-19 years old.
Third - I want to use the carbine for plinking at 100 - 150 meters.
Fourth - I know that with the M1 carbine I can shoot more than with other guns but it is so nice...
and last - I have a GC maker by Patmarlin for the .30 caliber and now I am trying the best thickness of alluminium or copper lay. And il is a long story...
Ciao
