Well, I'm sure that this has been covered before, but I'm looking for a cast bullet & load for a 7MM Rem. Mag.. It's a great rifle & I've found it to be incedibly accurate shooting Hornaday 162gr SBT bullets. I took a (dressed) 750 lb. bull elk with it & several white tails. My issue is that I would like to shoot it more often without having the **** kicked out of me!! That thing has no mercy with full power loads!! I'm shooting 162gr SBT w/59grs. IMR 4831 powder.
I love the rifle and would like to shoot it more often with less punishing loads. Looking for a cast bullet load to shoot in the off season.[smilie=b:[smilie=b:
Any advice would be apprecited!!

I cannnot say on the 7mm mag, but..... My buddies 300 Win mag loved the 180 gr. lyman 31141 over 13 gr. unique. 1650 fps and averaged an inch at 100 yards for 50 rounds. This is the same boolit I use in the 308 over 25.5gr. SR4759 for 1700 fps out of a 15 inch encore. Go heavy, flat point, Lovern style if you can. I am shooting the 7mm 130 gr soupcan over 13 gr 2400 out of my oldest sons 7mm-08. Cast soft, I am getting 1 1/2 inch groups at 100. Good nuff for a junior 100 yd hunter. As he grows, I will refine the load. Sorry I could not be more specific to your needs, but hope this helps.

I shoot one--I use a Lee 130 Cast-GC and the RCBS 168 Cast-GC---both offer good accuracy using Unique powder. I Load then long so they touch the lands of the barrel. My .30-06 is more accurate but the 7mm has acceptable accuracy IMHO. My 700 has a lot of free bore--as I used to shoot too many hot jacketed loads in it.

My 700 shoots the 130 gr. lee, and the lyman 287641 well. I don't drive them fast, and they make good practice shooting.!
