And the boolit is:
A Ranch Dog design intended for the 444 Marlin lever action.
Umpteen loobegroves and it will seat out far enough to make the Vetterli magasine feed.

It casts .433" and weighs 372gr.

What did you use to form the shoulder? Modified 44 Mag Sizer die?

Actually i bought a Lee .41Swiss dieset, so it was easy.
I tried the .44Mag way but unless the seater die is used the neck will be to narrow for my Vetterli.

In with 55gr Swiss #4 and a cardwad then slight compression

And here's the fine boolit with loads of grease

Great tutorial. But why not using 8x50R Lebel cases? Much easier to form.

I know and i have waited for a box of Prvi Lebel brass for the past month. Noone in europe that i can find actually stocks them, even though they're made in Serbia.

And paying for 2 airfares across the pond cant be benefisial for the final price on US sold Prvi brass.

348 Winnies i can get from Sweden at a fair price within 2-3 days, soooo that's why.

Similar process for reforming 348Win my 12.7 x 44R Swedish roller; 50/70 on the left for comparison. The new brass case heads have a raised reinforce around the primer pocket

Chicken, you can thank my good friend that Lee Precision put the 41 Swiss on as a stock item. It started out as a custom die set. Lee screwed up the 1st set badly. Bill had to talked with the boss, John Lee, to have the boyzs make the dimensions correctly and the rest is history

Hmmmm.......I have a Lee die set and it looks absolutely NOTHING like the chamber in my rifle. It was completely useless to me.

Also interesting that you can use 348 cases. The base on those is too big to fit into my chamber, but 8X50R cases fit perfect.

My rifle is a M78 that might/can have something to do with it!

Correct; but I just file the bases down a few thousandths in a drill press or lathe and they fit fine. I do have some 8mm Lebel cases (from Graf's) but have not yet fire formed/trimmed them. A friend, SmokemJoe, has fired hundreds of Lebel cases in his Vetterlis and won several Military shoots.

So i went to the range and here's the end result, 5 shots at 55yds. Mind you the rifle probably has'nt shot since the late 1880's!

Just made up 100 cases from 8x50R Lebel, except from the reaming the amount of work is the same.

I have made up over 600 case from Lebel brass havent had to ream them yet, Unless you have tight neck throat, Which I had once.

No but the 348 brass is way thicker and that is why i had to ream them.

After forming and trimming my first 50 8MM Lebel cases to the "correct" length I made a chamber impression and found that I could lengthen the case necks to give just a little more support to the Lee 44-310 bullet.

From the looks of the shoulder on the FL sized case on the right I must have one of the early Lee die sets made before "The talk".
