Has anyone tried greased cork for the grease cookie ?. I have a Martini Henry I'm experimenting with.

Maybe you should post under "blackpowder cartridge"?

Cork will act as an over powder wad to protect the boolit base, but will do nothing to add lube like a grease cookie. I've disassembled mid 1880s .43 Mauser rounds and found the grease cookie sandwiched between cards punched from what would be similar to playing card stock.

I've generally used carboard milk carton for over powder wads in BPC. I've known other guys to use LDPE in .03" or .06" thicknesses, tablet backs, cork, gasket material, and even leather. There was a time when I could get (and used) beeswax in .06" thick sheets and used it under a card wad to act as a gas check. This might be a good idea with undersize PP boolits.
