Some things in life are just not any fun. Some of the more simplier things in life for me are quite a bit of fun.

I have met a father son team recently who wanted to learn how to reload. They were on a pretty tight budget ( who isn't these days ? ) .

I've been helping them ( along with the help of about 5 other people here on the forum ) with basic essentials to get them up on their feet so that they could load 38 Specials.

A few days ago , they visited my home with an interest in loading some 308 Win. I helped them with 20 rounds with some 311291's g/c'd with 16.0 grs. of 2400.

They went home and shot all 20. They are going to the gun show this Saturday in Birmingham to try and find a used set of 308 Win. dies.

It is good to see a father and son getting involved in reloading and the shooting sports.

I want to publicly thank those forum members who chose to provide brass, dies, loading blocks, cast bullets , etc for this worthy cause. This has all been a " breath of fresh air " for me, there are some fine people on this forum ! !

The young man is polite, respectful with a hundred questions a minute when we sit together at the loading bench. He is a joy to work with.

They are having the time of their lives... ! ! ! Here is a photo that I shot of them :

Helping is good,

Let me know if they get into 45 ACP, 32 Auto, or 40 S&W,

I have 2 sets of 308 dies going back to RCBS this weekend. My buddy can't get right (go figure) got a piece of federal brass stuck in each one. I don't really need two sets and would be more than happy to send one of them your way when they get back for the price of shipping.

You know now that I think about it I don't know WHY I have two sets.

Seems you have the 311291's covered, but I'd be glad to cast up some 311466's and send your way.

The two items mentioned are all his and I will scrounge around in my bin for anything else I think he'll be able to use. If I get any free time this weekend I'll hammer out one of our well used copper "grain skimmer's" and add that to the mix. I can almost see by the time we are done he'll be as set up as the most of us.

Ben,

Found a powder trickler, a couple of ammo boxes, a case neck conditioner and a Speer #13 Manual. Think they could be added to those I told you about? I think they will fit in a MFR box. Lemme' know yea or nay on the items.

Regards,

Hi, Ben. Be glad to help out someone just getting started. I remember those days - lots of information to absorb and lots of stuff to accumulate.

In the interest of wanting to contribute but not wanting to duplicate, can you give more details about what's needed?

Thanks,

Ben let me know if there is anything I can contribute to them, good for you to help them get a start. 38 specials would be easy for me to assist with! Joe

JohnK454 and Jal5

Thanks for your willingness to help, A lot of stuff is coming in to help the boy get up on his feet. Let's wait until all this arrives to see what all we've got. If anything is really needed by the boy in the future, I'll get back to you.

Again thanks for your willingness to step forth...............
