l was advised to come here for help. l have cast some bullets using an RCBS mold 38-158 gc. l sized and lubed the bullets to .357, installed gas cks too. l then attempted to push one of the sized bullets heel first thru the front of the cylinder. l could get part of the base in. lt was a very very tite fit tho. l did not try to force the bullet any further. The gun is an unfired 27-2.. l tried the bullet on another well used 27-2 5'' and my 40 year old mod 36 Smith . l got the same results

Question is ---Should l size these bullets down to .356 or is .357 the way to go ??

thanks

357 to 358 is OK.

I'm guessing you don't have proper pin gauges to measure the throats, so try this. Load up a dummy round with your sized boolit seated to recommended oal. Then insert it into each chamber the correct direction from the rear of the cylinder. See if the round will chamber all the way to the rim. If it chambers you're good to go. You're going about checking your boolit backwards. The throat may not accept the BASE of your boolit but still be o.k.

357 to 358 is OK.

Ditto.

don't worry about the throat size. The bullet should not push easily through the throat.

If you get bad leading on the front of the cylinder, then lets talk about a different bullet diameter.
