Have you done a search yet. There have been several threads on it that I remember taking part in.

Hello Charlie,i have a SRH 480 w/a 9 1/2 barrel. To truly enjoy this cartridge you should reload and preferably cast too. I have a 6 shot cylinder and have not had extraction troubles but have read that some shooters do.I prefer Starline brass and for casting i like the 400 gr. Lee mould and the RCBS 405 gr.mould, neither requires a gas check and so far my leading has been minimal. I size my cast @ .476. The powders i like are Trail Boss for mild loads,Unique for mid range and H110 for true 480 power. If your gun has stock wood paneled grips try the Hogues, for me they seem to fit my hand better.I hope this helps you,Steve

Mine is a Tarus Raging Bull, with the Lee 476-400 RF over 21 gr. H110 is a tack driver.

I just acquired a six shot SRH in .480 w/ 7.5" barrel. It came with j-word bullets and some factory cast boolits.

I have been working with the boolits pushing them with HS-6 and Unique.

I have Trail Boss, Thank you Smorin2 for that tip!!

Charlie.....,

If you handload, are willing to stock a few powders and cast, I think you'll really like the .480.

It's only been a half week since I got this gun and my first in this cartridge but I can tell it's just like the .44 mag except it has MORE of everything. ........... power, recoil.

The trick with any of these big guys is to handload to various power levels ..........

It's been suggested to me that the SRH Alaskan grip is a good one as well as the Hogue tamer grip.

Hope you jump in ............ as far as I can tell the "water temp." is just FINE!

It's my understanding that the SRH Alaskan grip is the Hogue Tamer grip. It has DuPont sorbathane in the area that covers the backstrap.
