Anyone know where to find a Lyman 452-460 in a four cavity? I have a single cavity 452-460 but its so slow casting one at a time. I don't know if there is a lee mold that is real similar or not. These function real well in my 1911's and my CZ97.

A Saeco 068 or 069 are all but identical. There was a group buy of a Lee 6 cavity that was fairly similar except a slightly thinner nose a few years ago and someone might be willing to part with one. -- Bill --

Howdy. go to factorysales.com what you are looking for is the old 200 grain H & G #68 #452-460 swc the have it in a six cav for $38.00 lymanbucks and handles for $11.48 its number #90310 its the same one I have been using for 30 years. good luck GD

Do be aware that while similar, the Lee 220 grain SWC, the H&G #68 (200 grain swc) and the Lyman 452460 are not the same boolits. The Lee is longer and thinner in the nose than either of the latter, with the Lyman having the shortest and fattest nose of the three. As well, the Lee will take at least twice the lube to fill the lube groove as the Lyman 452460, and that boolit carries more lube than is needed. Also consider that the Lee is a bevel base design whereas the Lyman is a true plain base design

If your pistol is shooting the Lyman without trouble, I'd strongly suggest leaving well enough alone and spending your money on a Lyman 4 banger.

I have both molds. My RIA is very tolerant of the Lyman with a Chip McCormick mag, but it is not a 100% feeder with it. Two other mags (make unknown) are less that 60% feeders. No mag I have feeds the Lee reliably. My neighbors Taurus is the exact opposite, it is completely intolerant of the Lyman but feeds the Lee quite well. Another friend has the new Remington 1911 and it feeds either without problem.

The 1911 can be a finicky feeder, so if you have a boolit it likes, before investing in another mold, be sure it will feed that design.

I would say go ahead and get the Lee 6 cavity mould. It can be argued that it's not identical to an H&G #68, but quite frankly I have some Lee boolits loaded in 45ACP, as well as some SAECO #69's as well as Mihec copies of the H&G #68 (which I'm told IS an exact copy), and when looking at loaded ammo, I can't tell the difference unless I put them right next to each other, and pull out a magnifying glass and micrometer! I can't say about the Lyman 452460 as I've never seen one, but the H&G #68 design which all these boolits follow more or less is one known to feed well in 1911's, and if after buying the Lee mould you decide you don't like it, you're out less than $40.00, but chances are you will like it. If it wasn't for the fact that I currently own 3 different 4 cavity moulds of the #68 (2 brass Mihec moulds, and a SAECO) I would buy the lee mould.

Bought the Lee mold that gandydancer suggested. Cast 250 with it today and it drops good boolits. I sized them to .452 and lubed with carnuba red. Loaded them up in the 45acp with 4.1 grains of clays. Will try to get to the range tomorrow and try them out. Thanks for the suggestions

My 1911 will cycle the Lee, H&G 68, and 452460 equally well. The 452460 however, is significantly more accurate in my gun and I have heard reports of similar results from others. A friends 1911 is just the opposite in its preference

The Lyman bullet only needs one lube groove filled to be accurate and not lead in my gun. The lesser amount of lube in combination with Clays gives me a near smokeless load for indoor range use.

Let us know how the new bullets work for you.

boolits shoot accurately and feed the 1911 without a hiccup. I had a little trouble feeding the cz97bd though. I shot about 100 rounds through it and it is deadly accurate even more so than the 1911 with these boolits and me doing my part but on three separate occasions the case got hung up upon entering the barrel. It made it up the feed ramp but didn't get straight enough to finish feeding. It seemed like the front end of the brass may have been hanging up on the inside of the chamber before it got completely straight inline with the chamber. I seated them to 1.224. I would love to hear any suggestions you all might have. Thanks

my boy's 1911 done the same thing, i have to seat the shoulder square with the case mouth and bump[ just barely kiss the shoulder] in a roll crimp die, it's 100% now.
you might just need the seating depth without the bump.

PM me. I think I have a 452460 4cav lyman that I will part with.
