The long awaited delivery date of Berdan primers by Dagammo.com
is 6 Nov.

I talked to Dominic at Chantilly Show and he told me he is posting this date to his web
site and will be taking orders.

Those of you who pre ordered were smart to do so as you now are going to have them.

This is the first supply source for a long time on Berdan primers and for those who need them,
this is a great opportunity to snag them !

Snooze you lose if you need some and don't get your desires known to Dominic.

Looks like he is bring in the correct size for 7.62x39 and another size for larger rifle calibers. Not cheap, $133 and $156, unsure if that includes haz mat.

Too expensive for me.

The Berdan primers cost slightly more than domestic Boxer primers, and a good bit more than the cheap imported Boxer primers. The thing about the Primer cost is that, if you are shooting both Berdan and Boxer ammo in your rifle, your cost of brass will go from the cost of Boxer brass, down to nearly zero if you use Berdan brass.

Most of the Berdan primers I use are in the 7.5x55. The cheapest Boxer 7.5x55 brass I've found is at Widener's, at 43 cents a case:
http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=100000280
Each of those cases will last me 4 or 5 firings, so that's a Boxer brass cost of around 9 cents a firing.

Berdan brass will last about as many firings, and costs me nothing extra.

The Berdan brass has given me absolutely spectacular accuracy, and finding an accuracy sweet spot seems to take less shooting when using Berdan. In 5 of the last 6 years I've shot the Vintage Military match at Camp Perry. One of those years I just shot Swiss GP11 surplus and came in 29th, one year I shot Boxer and came in 14th, but the other times I shot Berdan handloads and came in 15th, 6th and a 5th.

Reloading Berdan brass adds one step to the loading process, but it's one I can do while watching TV when the weather is bad. To each their own, and please don't get the idea I don't shoot a lot of Boxer brass, even in the 7.5x55.

If they sell 1000/pack I'm in.

I bought 500 of the 7.5x55 NNY brass, and what came to me was 5 packs of 100.

My guess is that DagAmmo will sell you 1000 Berdan primers, but the HazMat charge will eat you alive.

I have paid $100 for 5000 primers several times in the last 6 months at gun shows, so
$156 is more than half again as expensive. Not something I need to do for that big of
a cost increase. I was assuming that they would be cheaper coming from Russia and not
having an anvil. Roosky ammo is cheap, why not the primers?

You'll have to arrive at your own decision regarding value added in reloading Berdan brass.

If you happen to have nice Swiss and Yugo berdan brass in quantity then its an option. Same for the fine German 762 Nato berdan ammo sold the past few years: that brass is top shelf quality stuff.

Or you got odd ball caliber Berdan brass on hand and this allows you options to shoot guns seldom taken to range.

The fact is: Before this there was no berdan primers. Now there is and you got choice again.

Choice: its a good thing in the long run

You can pierce it and pull it out or use a slide and water to remove it hydraulically.

I have thousands of once fired Swiss GP11 brass, but also about 400 Graf 7.5 Swiss, so while it is
attractive, not enough for me.

For the guy who can't find anything boxer primed in his caliber, it can be a real breakthrough.

I was excited to find out Berdan primers would be available, but then let down by the price.

Berdan primers are cheaper to make sice they don't have an anvil, why are we being charged more for them?
