A new knife

The local high school hosts a fall arts and crafts festival every year here in Floyd. Lots of different stuff. Janet and I went to look yesterday.

I found a vendor selling handmade knives and stopped to look. I was especially attracted to one and Janet bought it for me.

I like the sheath. It can be worn on either side and I'm left handed.

Thats a real good looking knife there Jim, do you know what the handle is made of?

The white part is bleached bone. The wood is laminated, but I don't know what the specie is.

Odd as it seems, I didn't even think to ask. All I know is, it caught my eye, fit my hand and called my name. "Daddy!" :D

Can you read what is on the snap? I think I can see "State of Oklahoma" and "1907", but there's more that I can't see.

That is a nice looking knife. The handle wood is made from laminated soft woods, then stained whatever color that batch is meant for. I used this "pakkawood" as it was called at one time of knives I once made. Aside from the jeweling on the blade this resembles a knife kit of parts ready to assemble and finish I used to see in catalogs.Robert

Being able to wear the knife on your left side is a nice bonus but I think you have another problem. Looks like you bought a right handed knife so it will be of no use to you.

Best to just send it to me and cut your losses.
