What has been your experience with best load/bullet in this barrel?
What about diameter, are the TC barrels, typically 0.375"?
Larger?
Smaller?
A friend tried cast in his Ruger # 3 and it would NOT shoot any cast bullet well.
It would stack the 220 Hornadys though.

All suggestions accepted!

I have not tried the 375 Win in a contender, but have tried it in the Marlin, Winchester, Savage, and Ruger and my all time favorite load is---
Case - WW
bullet - 350gn LBT/LFN/GC BHN-15 @.377"
Primer - CCI - #350
powder - 28.5gn AA # 2230
AVerage vel. - 1550 fps
Why they ever gave this caliber a 1/12" twist I dont know but it realy seems to like long boolits.
BTW- The Ruger #3 shot this load great and will clear an elk length wise. My Dad used the Ruger to fill two antilope tags with one shot.

I'm gonna have to try Bullshops load.....I have been using the Lyman 379449 over 28 grains of 1680. I would be concerned about full pressure loads in the TC Contender, it is generally only considered good for about 40,000-45,000 psi. The 375 Winchester can go 52,000 psi. The Encore would be an altogether different story.

Acurate Arms shows data for the 38-55 (same case for most practical purposes) using 2495 driving 250 grian bullets to 2000 fps (from a rifle of course)

I've done a lot of plinking type shooting with the Lee 379-250-RF. This is a beveled plain base, but I've shot it to 1400 fps from a 28" rifle no trouble with 16.2 grains of 2400. Alliant data shows 18 grians of this for a 255 grain bullet in a 38-55. (again, rifle)
