Pats reloading lists wc844 and wc844T, the same in wc846
The wc844T is a higher flame temp to ignite tracer ammo.
Would either be suitable for cast shooting or would the T series be an undesireable power for normal use.

You might wish to ask Pat...he's a wealth of knowledge. For myself...I've been using his WC-846 for years in cast and jacketed loads with great results.

The Military supposedly started using the different lots as it improved barrel life by not using the hotter version unless you needed it. My understanding of the situation was that all 844/846 used to be the T-designation. The split between tracer lots and otherwise was relatively recent so most of us here have probably loaded what is now classified as T for years without ill effects. I'm on my 3rd 8lb jug of Wcc844. For 223 and 308 its hard to beat and it works well in anything where H335 works. I've had some success with it in 30/06, 257 AI, and 45-70 too. 846 is a little slower and is an even better 30/06 powder as it loads to Bl-c(2) data. Get some of both while you can as bartlett, widener, and hi-tech are all sold out of em.

Which of these powders would be best for cast and jacketed in a 30-30?

Thanks,
Tristan

Either will work but 844 is probably a little better suited to cases of that capacity.
