Is there any easy way to put a GC on a PB boolit? I had a 311410 BB that would use a GC but the mould was so far out of round (306x312) that I sent it back and got a new one that is round (309x308) but it is PB not a BB. I would like to use a GC on this but can't figure a way to do it.

Pretty hard, just cast the boolits harder but then you will need a soft nose if you hunt.
The gas check should be on the boolit to arrest skid as it enters the rifling.
I suppose you could punch out the center of a GC, set it in the mold and pour through it. You need good venting and have to align it just right.
I added GC's to the top drive band of revolver boolits that way.

I use PatMarlins plain base gas check maker. I got the 30 cal just a few weeks ago and just ordered a 35 cal after finding how much I like it.

Rocker; Never heard of that. How does it work and where did you get it?

I put some gas checks on some bevel based 45's. I obviously had to much time on my hands and can't really say why I did it other than to see if I could. Back in good ol'days when cast boolits could be sold on Ebay. A seller had listed and pictured some plain based bullets with gas checks. He claimed he reduced the size of the base by inserting it into and RCBS bullet puller and tightening it up. I tried it and it worked. Did absolutely nothing to improve the accuracy and took way to much time. Possibly with a crony I might have squeezed a few more FPS. I'm speculating at the load but most likely used 4.5-5.0 grs of Bullseye. I used a 200gr Lyman clone of an H&G SWC and was most likely using a 50/50 mix of clip-ons and stickys in 45AR.

I don't want to discourage anybody from experimenting. You really have nothing to lose trying. The only way to determine if it is worth the time and effort. Is giving it a try and see what the end results are. Gas checks are great for improving less than perfect castings.
