On way home from work yesterday, trolling for WW, I hit up a new place.
No ww, he says (they somehow reuse most of them), but did have some long lead bars, would I like to take a look....

The bars are about 1/4" thick by 1/2" wide by 16-18" long. Like so.

These bars bend very easily. I know that's a totally subjective statement. Guy said about $20 for a partial five gallon pail i'm guessing weighed in between 60-65 lbs, but no hash to sort out like one has with WW. Just pure lead.

Is it likely that I could get by with a 1:1 or even possibly 2:1 ww to pure alloy for shooting 9mm? Could someone provide a little enlightenment about this stuff?

Not very much! Figure out what brinnell hardness you want and then do some experimenting to get the wheel weights up there. Antimony would do more for hardness than tin; tin would make good fill out; after ?%, not much on hardness.

I'd get all I could and then nurse it along for when I could only get "pure" scrap lead as wheel weights go the way of the DODO bird. I'd be tickled to death to get a large amount of lead at 30 cent a pound, let alone this stuff.

Think of these as a source of tin more than anything else. A 1" or 2" long chunk should be
plenty to improve the casting fill out of a pot of wwts.
