Built the frame out of 2 7/8" upset tubing, and cut out the Buffalo from a piece of 3/4" plate I had. Had a bit of trouble getting it put up, frame fell down and luckily only strained my wrist, instead of the fracture I thought I did to it. finally got it up and headed home on the tractor. took about an hour to get home, then went looking for some 45-70 ammo for my Trapdoor, but couldn't find any. Wanted to be the first to shoot it, since I built it.

Figured it would appropriate to take first shots with this combo, but ended up taking my 357 supermag Ruger #1 loaded with some BRP 363-200's at around 2200fps.

Took about 10 ft of elevation using iron sights. Got it 7 out of 15 shots , iron sights(bit windy)

Going to try and get some 45-70 loaded with the 420gr Lee GB boolit over 5744 and go smack it again:smile:

Buffalo is about 4ft high and 5&1/2 feet wide. That sucker was heavy!!!!

Edit:Sorry, forgot to put the distance. It is at 500 yds. Wrist is OK, just a strain.

If he was shooting from the house it was a long way. He said that it took him near and hour to get home on the tractor. With 10 ft of elevation for a 2200fps 200gr slug I would think that it would be close to 800yds.

3/4" should keep it from getting hole punched in it for a while.

NICE! BTW, if you suspend it in a way that tilts the top forward naturally a few degrees it will improve the life considerably, and direct the spatter downward.

Shooting steel is instant gratification. I love it.

If you put about a one inch hole where the eye is then if it doesn't go clang you can always say you shot it in the eye.:bigsmyl2:

Very good rockrat. You did a fantastic job at cutting him out and getting it hung.

If I send you a picture of the ex-wife could you make me 1 and ship it to me. It would be worth a sprain wrist to shoot at for a long time.
