Hello!!! Today I set up my new lee pro 4 20, with my new NOE whisper mold, first time casting.... Tried to take some decent pictures, even begged an upscale camera from the wife unit..... I'm just no good at the picture thing......Here are some shots.

I played with the temp range, from 600 up to 800, trying to find my sweet spot.
I had a high rate of throw backs, but ended up with some pretty decent looking bullets in the end. I have one hole that just does not want to turn loose of the bullet I mean really not wanting to come out...Any tips???

I have a lee .309 size die, should I alox them up like the directions say, or is there a better method??? I watched a youtube video where he smeared a little bull plate on the die, is that a viable option?? Can I pan lube and then put through the size die??

Thanks to every one on the sight!!! Ive really been wanting to cast for a long time, been lurking this sight for years! Final got my first cast under my belt!

Fisty,
Good looking boolit. Did you settle on a temperature? With the hole that won't give up it's boolit, is it always in the same side? There may be a small bur on the side of the cavity, so you may have to look close, like magnifying glass close. If there is, then you will have to remove the bur.

On the lube front, you will have to let us know what speed you are looking at loading to. Alox may well be good enough if you are keeping it sub-sonic.

One comment on your table set-up. Please clamp that pot down. Safety first.

Try the mold flipped in the handles the other way.

I was wondering about that... Is there a rite, wrong, or is it personal preference???

Southern: The bullet sticks same hole same side, almost have to use a punch on the boolet to get it out.....Got to the point I just left that cavity full.... Gonna scrub it down and try again this weekend....Gonna go to harbor freight and get a magnify glass on a stand to inspect my mold, I figure I can also use it to inspect boolits too.....

Do you guys think I'm running too much hammer???

I use the same hammer. I couldn't find a leather one.

I think it's easier to reach the hammer point of the sprue plate flipped the other way. Give it a try. It's personal preference.

I liquid aloxed the first run, what nasty ****!! Donut think I'll use that stuff as it comes again.....After I run them through the size die, can I wash off the alox?? I don't think I want to get that schmutz all over my new build.....I intend on pan lubing at first. I got a mixed bag from Randyrat, great guy to deal with... Shipped my Beeswax, Carnuba, lanolin, and some sort of "styrene acid "or something.... Trying to figure out which lube recipe to use... Only going to be for subsonic through a can, Thinking i want to keep it pretty firm, preferably one that smells nice...Any recommendations????? Thank again folks!! Great site!!!!
