I want to load some 'reduced load' 30.06 lead 110 gr bullets. I have seen some using recepies with 11gr of Red Dot and wonder if any one has actually loaded and shot this?

Remember I want a reduced load.

Thanks

Sure. Do a search here for "the load". Regards, Woody

I've shot and hunted with 110 grain bullets in a 30-06 for decades.
My current "quest" is to make a nice easy shootin load for my 10 year old grandson.
Now I'm casting and loading 120 grain boolits (http://leeprecision.com/xcart/MOLD-D-C-309-120-R.html) and working up to a good and comfortable load. My first have ranged from comical, to respectful. I'm using a rifle powder in my loads. IMR 4895
Comical was 15 grains. PAH-LOOP! And a drop of about 12-14 inches at 100 yards.
Still funny was 20 grains. Bang. And a bit more on target.
Then 30 grains... Blam! and it was ringing the 125 yard steel. Not to mention the shiny lead stars it was patterning. Still 10 full grains below the recipe of 40.5 grains. (http://www.hodgdon.com/PDF/Youth%20Loads.pdf)
I had only loaded 20 of each of these test rounds. Most of those I was literally laughing out loud. Especially the PAH-LOOP loads.

My Lyman reloading manual (#47), #311359 Lyman cast bullet, 113 grains, Lyman #2 alloy.
The book Lists:
Red Dot :
Starting @
11.0 grains/ 1683 FPS/ Pressure C.U.P. 23,400
Max recommended is:
15.0 grains/ 2000 FPS/ Pressure C.U.P. 36,900

Green Dot
Starting @
13.0 grains/ 1792 FPS/ Pressure C.U.P. 28,800
Max recommended is:
16.0 grains/ 2020 FPS/ Pressure C.U.P. 38,600

Unique
Starting @
14.0 grains/ 1960 FPS/ Pressure C.U.P. 27,000
Max recommended is:
19.0 grains/ 2331 FPS/ Pressure C.U.P. 42,000

DO NOT exceed ANY of the recommended loads. NOTE that 4 grains of Red Dot has a marked increase in pressure.
Every caution should be afforded working with these powders.

My personal preference is to use rifle powders in rifle loads. I have only entertained the idea of using Shotgun/Pistol powders in my 30-06.
But stepping back from the heavier bullets and the resultant recoil can make high power shooting a lot of fun.
My pet loads of 110 grain hunting bullets were chronographed in excess of 3000 FPS. There was not much time between BANG and impact. (Not at 1000 yards a second.)
And they were loaded below starting by 1.5 grains. But I could shoot them by the hundreds and no sore shoulder.
I like light bullets in a 30-06. They are serious fun.

Years ago I used 16 or 17 grains H110 with a 110 grain cast. Damgood gopher-getter!

for a plainbase plinker load use 5-6g of BullEye or Red dot.it will be in the 1200 fps range and holds OK to 100 yards.Same charge range works in the 7.62 x 54. 7.65 Argentine and 303 Brit.I have used the SAECO #325-Ideal 311316 and Ideal 3118 quite bit with these loads.

This is the perfect situation for trail boss. I'm sure you'll get excellent results, can't recommend a load but google it and 110gr 30-06 and you'll have more loads than is healthy

I use around 4 gr of Viht 310 pistol powder. Just nice for 25 yard plinking.
