I spent Thurs. nite and about half of yesterday in the emergency room with a spontaneous arterial bleed in one of my sinuses. I an now home and rebuilding. I'm up for 10-20 minutes and then go back to sleep. I now have a baloon in a right sinus, not real comfortable but better than the blood filling the sinus!

The Doc said that I suffered "substantial blood loss". Couldn't find that in a quick search, so don't know specifically what it means.

Couple days rebuilding, I guess. The baloon comes out Wed.

Good luck. Doesn't sound like a lot of fun, but that is a good location for it. In your
brain you'd be dead or partially paralyzed by now, so look on the bright side.

Let's hope it stops and stays stopped.

Geez, that's terrible. Hope they find & fix the cause so you don't have to repeat that. Good news that your home recuperating, hospitals are so boring even when sick.

Prayers for your complete recovery.

Yikes! Nosebleeds are a phobia of mine, but popping an artery in your sinus cavity has to be horrible. Hope things get better, and the balloon comes out ok. That doesn't sound like much fun, either.

Who knew nose picking was a contact sport!

In all seriousness Wayne, get well soon. It sounds like you got the medical treatment you needed as soon as you needed it!

Dang Doc, that doesn't sound fun. I get them occasionally in very cold weather, or when allergies are kicking my butt. Annoying, at best.

All the best during your recovery, sir. Any idea on causation?

Not really, Al. Mom had an aneurism years ago, I understand the weakness may be genetic. If this is the worst it gets I'm happy. I'm in God's hands anyway.

Dang, who knew there was an artery in your sinus cavity? Sure hope you fell better soon and that they can seal it up. Know what you mean about sleeping. I'm down with some weird allergy on my right leg. Thought it was poison ivy but now I'm thinking mange or something else Gonna call the doc tomorrow. Starting to swell a bit now. Wife gave me Benadryl at supper last night. I was out by 6:30P and just got up at 7:30A!!! No more of that stuff for me!

I've now taken three and a half days off work and don't have the stamina to keep going all day without a nap. Concentration is not easy, but improving. I have one sinus packed which is uncomfortable and makes sleep a problem. The packing comes out tomorrow. Still some blood in my phlem but seepage is probably normal. Rest, lots of fluid, iron pills, rest.

I know the feeling Wayne. I had nose reconstruction surgery from the inside of my nose being broken up by fights as a kid.

Had both sides packed for days. What a pain in the butt.

Dang, Bret. That doesn't sound like much fun either. Hope you get it sorted out
quickly. Have you tried Hydrocortisone ointment on it?

MD's orders to be lazy! Can't pick up anything as heavy as a half gallon of milk. No lawn mowing. Keep BP below 110 - that's gonna be a trick! Work half a day today 9-3 and 9-5 tomorrow. These orders last for two weeks! Unfortunately that means no casting either, unless maybe with a single cavity mold. (I ladle cast - no bottom pour.)

I'm guessing they got the ballon out of your head ok? At least you're up and moving some, take it easy!

Balloon came out Wed. afternoon, after 5 days. BP currently 95/51 - I'm walking carefully, but no Sx of low BP yet. Did some significant work yesterday, around the house. Shouldn't have mopped the kitchen floor! Felt some pressure up there then but nothing popped. Have an old outdoor thermometer that I rehabbed and made polenta as well as house cleaning and laundry. Today went to services, didn't sing, sat most of the time. Taking it easy this afternoon.

I come to it honestly. Years ago my Dad had his first heart attack, while he was on the operating table for a heart catherization!. (He's been gone for several years now.) He was in Front Royal, VA and I lived in Concord, NH. I would call at noon every Sat. to see how he was doing. Doc had told him to keep it very easy, not to do work. About a month later I called and got no answer. I thought that he was doing well and went to lunch with friends. Called that evening and he answered. I mentioned the earlier call, "Yeah, I heard it but didn't want to come down and answer." "What do you mean, come down" I asked, "You live in a ranch house!" "Oh, I was up on the roof" he says. "What were you doing up on the roof, Dad?" "I was replacing the roof", he says. "Didn't the doctor tell you to take it easy?" I asked, somewhat sarcastically. "Oh, I did", says he. "I only did half the roof, I did the other half last year!"
