I used one for a 300 yard 1-shot kill on a greater Kudu and a 165 yard 1-shot kill on an impala. Great rifle. You did good.

I won one a couple years ago in 257 Wby. Shoot it before you trade it off, I really like mine.

Those generic Howa 1500 bolters can REALLY shoot. Don't surprised if it works its way into your heart.

well i traded it off. I just couldnt justify another 06 as ive got 3 bolts in 06 allready. I made a decent deal though. Local gun shop had a like new 7mag hawkeye ruger there. It had been fired three times by a guy i knew and he couldnt take the recoil. He had a tag of 550 on it. I only had one 7 mag so it made more sense. He ended up giving me 450 for the weatherby so it cost me a 100 bucks. Not bad. Thought i was doing good till i got out hunting last night and realized my 500 dollar binoculars were gone out of my truck. I looked everywhere and the only thing i can figure is someone stole them out of my truck while parked in my yard. So my good fortune only breaks me even. To be honest the last run around i had with weatherbys service dept left me soured anyway.

You got a good deal! I was going to suggest that you "one up" Ben, and have it rebored to .358" and chamber in 35 Whelen. I have 2 MK V's in .257 and .338/.378, and I have nothing but good to say about Vanguards. They can be hit and miss like everything else, but my 1st Vanguard, a VG Deluxe in .300 WBY shot 3 shots in .75" the 1st time I ever fired it.

I prefer the Vanguard for a builder personally, because it is a forged receiver. And now Timney is selling triggers for it. You can also get the BC medalist stock from Stocky's stocks.

How 'bout a "i won a ---------" thread . I actually have won several firearm raffles, none of 'em were anything I wanted or kept !

The only thing I won was the lottery for the draft back in 1971. My random sequence number was 001. Still have that letter from the Selective Service somewhere.

That's my kind of luck.

Aaahh, Slim, ya got me beat! I was #002. 'Bout the only thing I've won, not considering my wife.

I could have bought all of the tickets but one and I still would not have won. Have never been lucky at raffles.
