I did my first smelting ever yesterday and I found about 6-7 over a whole 5 gallon bucket of wheel weights. I had all the clips skimmed off and I kept pushing it under the surface figuring it would melt and it just sat there looking as good as new. I looked over the weights that didn't melt and there didn't appear to be any markings on them to indicate that they were zinc. (FWIW)

The ones I've found weren't marked either:

GP100man, Yes I have found a few too. They seem to rivit them on to the clip.

All the riveted clip weights I have seen so far are magnetic, but there's a lot of variation out there. Weight manufacturers seem to be unaware of us and the feds hate us so keep the smelting temp down to 600-650!
