Does anyone know which M Die I need to order for 9mm Luger ?

There seems to be two 30 caliber M dies which has me puzzled.

I would want to load 3006, 762x54R. Thats 308 and .311.

I use the 38 special M Die, but the point was too blunt and caused some issues with the tapered 9mm case. A friend ground the blunt tip of the expander plug to make it more 9mm friendly.

9mm, I just use the flairing die that came with my RCBS set.

30 cal, use the LONG 30 cal M die for the 30-06 and the rooskie caliber.

dia is not really what you're after, you just want to flair the sides of the mouth.

or get the Lee universal one.

For the 9MM you want the 38AP expander plug for the "M" die. They have 3 different sizes, the 38P for .38/.357, the 38MAP for the Makarov and the 38AP for the 9MM/.38 Super.

I always order the "Short" die body, because I can always raise it in the press to handle a longer case, but I can't lower a "Long" to handle a short case. The die body doesn't touch the case anyway

If you want it for .311 bullets get the .31 M-die, it's what I use. It has a long body but works for the 2 cartridges mentioned. I use it for .311 - .314 sized bullets. I use mostly .311 sized bullets in my .30 cals including the '06. I use .312, .314 and .316 sized bullets in my various 7.62x54Rs. I use the .30 M-die for .308 - .310 sized bullets (mostly those that drop out of the mould that size).

For 9mm I have to agree with fecmech and Rocky above. Use the M1 (short) body and the 38ap plug, or have Buckshot make a plug for you to your specs.

I recently had him make one for me without a flaring step, only because I use an old RCBS seating die that won't tolerate much if any mouth flair. This die has almost no bevel and I'm using it on a progressive press. My custom plug's second step is juusst enough to allow a .357 bullet to slip in without shaving lead and to allow the case to enter the die without getting hung up. Would have been easier to just get a more modern die, but this one was free to me.

Your 9mm dies should have come with an expander, basically an M-die.
