never shot cast through 270. any suggestions picked up an old ideal 321297 single cavity fpgc real cheap at a yard sale. casts 180 grn .275

#321297 is a .32 Special bullet. So your numbers are mixed up on the mold or cast diameter.
You also would need a .278' bullet for a .270 Win which is a nominal .277" groove diameter.

thats what i thought. cant remember the site but found chart listing ideal molds and according to thier reference chart its supposed to cast .275 180 grn. on another auction site not fleabay also lists .275 180 grn. I'm as baffeled as anyone. I bought it going by number designation. if rain lets up will cast a couple and mic them

321297 is a 181 gr GC 32 cal boolit. The Lyman/Ideal 270 moulds all start with 280 and run up to 150 grs. 280411-138 gr, 280412- 136gr GC, 280468-109gr GC, 280473-125 gr GC,
280642 150 gr GC.

I size at .280 but lee dont make a push thru. Most 280 molds drop a 284 so they work good in a 7mm
