I used to be a member in the 80's and competed in the national matches in the knife and hawk events on the primitive range. My son also threw in those days and is still in a 5 way tie for a record. He was the first one to throw the score as a 12 year old if my memmory is correct. I called him when I discovered his name on their website last year. He's in his 40's now and I think that news put a smile on his face. .......Mike

Current member and "field" representative of the NMLRA. Unfortunately I'm not able to talk too many of my students or fellow shooters into joining and most of the muzzle loading rifle clubs won't affiliate if it costs them any money at all.

It used to be at Western Nationals, you had to be a member to attend. So, each year, I would renew at the gate. Most years, I would never receive the magazine. No membership card. Nothing.
I was quite happy when the NMLRA was booted out of the western rendezvous scene. They were users, and did nothing that I can recall for the westerns, aside from supply insurance. I still have some pretty bitter feeling over the lawsuits.

Sounds like bad leadership, I am sure that those folks are retired by now.

Joined in 1959, when it cost $3.00 per year, and finally dropped my membership in 1999. Just wasn't shooting them as much as I used to and "Muzzle Blasts" was generally nothing but match scores. Very little about hunting and how-to, which was what I was interested in.

I buy two NMLRA family memberships, on for me and my wife; the other for my daugther and son-in-law's family.

I expect them to do the same when the grandkids grow up.

Yes, all of us shoot and the ladies can be hard to beat at times.

I am also a life member of the NRA.

After 30+ years of front stuffers I am finally getting back to reloading cartridge.
