This is the alloy BNH rating for my bullets so far :

#1 WW, water quenched BHN 17-18

#2 50% WW, 50% lead, water quenched BHN 15

#3 2# lead, 8# WW, water quenched BHN 17.5

#4 2# lead, 8# WW, 0.5# Lino (Water quenched) BHN 20

Can I use all of these for45acp & 9mm loads ?

You can probably use number 1 and 2 without water quenching in the 45acp. The 45 is a low pressure load and the 9mm can get quite high.
It is my experience that the 9X19mm does better with 15 or harder bullets.

Neither water quenching nor Linotype is necessary for the .45 ACP. Additionally, straight wheel weight alloy can be too hard.

Don't own a 9 mm so won't comment on it.

All are harder than necessary for either caliber. Too hard can contribute to leading, not
cure it, depending on fit and lube.

FIT is FAR more important than hardness.

For my 45 acp I mix clip on wheel weights and pure lead at a 50-50 ratio and have not gotten any leading in 4 pistols up to a velocity of 1000 fps. No need to water quench.

The 50-50 mix should be a good alloy for any pistol that you keep the velocity down under 1000 fps and should help stretch your wheel weights that may be hard to get anymore. As said above, fit is very important also to prevent leading the barrel.:lovebooli

Thank you Gents, I got situational awareness of what I got and what I need to do. You guys bracketed the issue precisely.
