Based solely on case capacity comparison, I'd reduce .38 Special loads by about 20%.

2.5 grains bullseye and a 148 grain HBWC loaded to an OAL of 1.2 inches worked ok in an old Colt I used to own. I had looked for one of the old, correct, Lyman molds, (358-160, IIRC) but they had stopped making them a few years prior. The HBWC functio,ned pretty well and shot fairly close to POA, as I remember, but the accuracy was only ok. I had also tried it with cast 158 grn RN using 38 S&W data, but that was terribly inaccurate, Rapine made some molds for some of the old black powder cartridges, but they are out of business. You might be able to find one though, on ebay or Gunbroker.
