Thanks to all who have helped me develop this load for my Handirifle! It has been a great learning experience as its my first centerfire round using my cast boolits. The pistol and revolver rounds were simpler in some ways to get cast to work well, but the rifle rounds have been a fun learning experience.

I am using Lyman 480473, cast from range scrap+a little tin solder, wgt.= 128-129gr, over Unique and sized to 0.280. Once I dialed everything in I am shooting a decent group at 50 yds about 1.5" which is not bad for me. I need to check it out at 100 yds and beyond but that is the next stage. I am sure with a little more practice I will close up that group a little more too.

This is "green" practice too: I recycled lead from the range and shot it again!

I plan to try these with Reloader 7 later and see what kind of accuracy I can get. Lube was Speed Green, no leading at all over the whole range of load development.

Thanks, Bruce. I read that post several times thinking it must be there, but I never saw it.

Reloder 7 would be a good choice for stepping up the velocity a bit.

My Rem 700 270 likes 4895. Try it in your Handi it may like it too.

Back when I used to shoot a Rem. 700-270 I remember getting fantastic results with IMR 4350. But I was also using Jacketed bullets.

The 280437 is basically a scaled down version of the 311413 and behaves about the same. I've found the best accuracy with it around 1500-1600 fps. Around 15 gr of 2400, 16 gr of SR-4759, 18 gr 4198 (either flavor), etc. It can get very erratic if you try to push it too hard, especially if they're a little soft. It'll do about 1-1/2" at 100 yd if you treat it right.
