I have some IMR3031 and was thinking of using it with the lyman 225646 boolit but haven't been able to find any reload data for it. Tried search with no luck (not surprising with my computer savy, or lack of ) so would appreciate any info you have and will share.

Gas, bolt or single shot?

Twist of barrel?

H&R Handi rifle
I think it is a 1in 9 twist, Haven't checked it in a long time and old age makes fuzzy memory.

Size at .225, use a good lube (I use Javelina) and GC them of course. I cast out of a malleable alloy with a BHN of 18 -20. I've found harder more brittle alloys such as lino type do not improve things. I do a visual inspection to eliminate imperfections using a lighted magnifyer. Some also weigh there bullets but I don't. I suggest well fire formed cases that are NS'd. I use a Lyman M die as with the Lee flaring die my cast 225462s, 225438s and 225 415s will seat crooked in the necks. I use LC cases and WSR or Rem 7 1/2 primers.

Suggest you start at 15 gr of 3031 and use a 1/3 - 1/2 dacron filler with your bullet. Test at 100 yards with a minimum of 7 shot strings, preferably 10 shot strings as the standard 5 shot strings can be decivieng as to real accuracy potential of a load. Work up in .3 gr increments utinl accuracy really goes south. This will probably be in the 1800 fps range with 3031. If you have a chronograph use it paing attention to the ES; the smaller it gets the better and more uniform the ignition is. I don't chase the SD god as it also can be decieving.

I get much better results at higher velocity using a slower burning powder. The 4 that are working best for me are; AA4350, RL19, H4831SC and RL22. None of them require a filler. You might give some though to trying one or more of them down the line.

excellent answer right there.
good job Larry.
if you had a slower twist i'd suggest going on up with the charge,

but do it larry's way you might learn [something about] what he's been trying to splain for a couple of years now.
and you'll find a good load at the same time.
