I recently got a NOE GB mold for 25 heavy (120 gr.)
also, I have bought a PB 80 gr. mold from Ranch dog in 25 cal.

Lyman made the 257312 that did very well on small game. NEI makes a clone and the above mentioned Ranch Dog mold looks very tempting.

Durn it David,

I used to cast for a .257 Wheatherby Magnum with an RCBS mould. Long, long ago and far, far away. (1970 or so)

Ya might look at RCBS catalog or evil, wicked, mean, and nasty bay for one.

Wish I could remember - OR even remember what the question was. :veryconfu

I made my own mold for a 25. It's adjustable and 120gr is what I set it for. Just seems like the 'right' weight for a 25 cast.

lyman 257420 is what I use in my 25-20 and 256 win mag.
The Saeco #257 should be a good one for that 25-06, if you want to spend that kind of $s.

Limits, there are limits. Too hard will poke a hole, softer with just the right expansion will work. Harder will shoot faster and more accurate but it is a small boolit.
The caliber will work but you need to find expansion, velocity and accuracy all at once.
When using lead to hunt other then varmints, I prefer larger and larger calibers.

I've had good luck killing deer, using the Cramer 55A in a .250 Savage. Weight from WW+1% tin is 105g.

Yup, the Cramer 55A is about as good as it gets in the 25. Finding one is akin to a Grail quest though. With anything under 30 cal shot placement is absolutely essential. Expansion is always an iffy thing, so consider head shots or breaking the shoulders. A little lost meat is nothing compared to a lost, wounded deer.

Blammer and I designed the 25 Heavy for my upcoming 25 Kraig AI, just a touch bigger than the 257 Roberts AI and just under the 25-06 in capacity. Should work great in the latter. You might see if there is enough interest for a re-run, post in the Group Buy Discussion arean.

One of my 25 caliber molds is not made any more ( the Lyman 257312), but that is a good boolit for small game hunting in any 25 caliber gun. ( I wouldn't consider using a 25 caliber boolit on game as large as deer no matter what caliber it was fired from. The other mold I use is the Lyman 257420 65 grain FN, and that boolit shoots surprisingly well out of my Ruger Ultra Light 257 Roberts, and a friend's 25-20. I haven't tried any of the 25 caliber heavy weight boolit molds since I have larger calibers for the kind of shooting I might do with them.
