I goofed and bought a bottle of H110 instead of H380 for my 30-06. Gonna exchange it for some H380. But I was wondering what all this powder can be used in. I already have some good loads for my 9mm luger and .40 with unique and plenty of unique. This looks to be a pistol powder but can it be loaded in hi power rifle with (bite my tongue) copper jacket bullets. How good does this work with cast boolits in pistols what is the ups and downs with this stuff. Should I just return it for H380 or keep it for another project.

Return it, based upon your synopsis. ... felix

Magnum pistol powder. I use it in 357, 44 mags and 45Colt Contender loads. Also use it in my 300 Whisper.

Tried some a long time back but never thought all that much of it. According to the notes penciled in the margins of my old Speer #10 manual, it shot okay in full-house jacketed loads for my .357 and .41 Mags but not anything noticeably better than 2400 (which was a lot less expensive at the time). Also is a note that says: "358156/15.5gr - marginal acc'y, lead in bore!!" Also remember that about every combination I tried had a fairly nasty muzzle blast, too. As I recall, the original H110 was a milsurp for .30 Carbine rounds...dunno what relationship the current formula might have to the original, though.

I am not sure why yo uwould want H380 for the 06, but H110 is really only useful in full power magnums handgun laods, 30carbine & maybe 22Hornet. Sounds like another trip is in order.

Hot mag pistol loads and .30 Carbine are a pretty exhaustive list of applications.

Not safe with reduced loads.

18-19g is good in 308 With 150-200g bullets.I shot it in the Washington State CBA championship this month with decent results.I have used it for almost 20 years without issue in the 308,but i dont deviate from 18-19g.

Chances are, you won't be allowed to return it because of anti-tampering laws. If you are REALLY well known to the store, perhaps - but they aren't supposed to.

Unless you load a lot of full-throttle magnum handgun loads, you have some useless powder there. Maybe a friend can use it.

Works awesome in my 480 Ruger. Only powder I'll use for it.

I've used it for 357Mag and 30 Carbine. Prefer 2400 for these apps.

It's been many years since I had a 30-06 but best I recall, IMR 4895 was one of the best powders for that caliber-definitely not H110.

I use it in .500S&W Handi-rifle and it is great for that application with a variety of cast boolit weights.

I get good cast boolit accuracy with it in 30 06, .308, .303Br, 30 40 Krag 30 30, .257Roberts and 6.5 x 55. It gives very similar results to 2400. It didn't do well in my 45 70. I've shot up about 20 lb of it without incident, and an old friend has used it since the middle sixties. It's far from useless.

My experience with H-110 has been similar to Krashenbirn with 357Mag, 44Mag and hot 45LC. I still have some of the original pound purchased, along with 296. I have since, burned up at least three 8 Pound jugs of 2400. Between 2400 and Unique, I can do 90% of my reloading.

I used 17 grains of H110 and a 110gr. boolit in 06 for years as a gopher-getter. Don't have the 06 any more but the loads worked like a champ!
