powder flows from the auto disk fine , i am chugging around the turret till i find my problem , it doesn't let the boolet all the way out of the seating die before it starts to index and binds , so i am back to hand indexing but it sure makes powder measuring easy for the reduced loads i am making

i have the standard turret does anyone know if the auto disk does the same

it would sure be slick if it would index for me , maybe my next press will

Lee , please just a a little more ram travel and clearance and it would be a real rifle cartridge making machine

does any one know if the classic cast turret has better clearance

Looks like this has already been covered pretty thoroughly :

I just browsed some of the posts in the link from post #2 here. I don't do rifle on my Lee turret, but I was just wondering if adding washers or a spacer on each support post under the turret ring would help? You would have to lower all but the seating die, just readjust the seater stem.

thanks , Ben I really did search it but i must have worded it different in my search

i wish i had known that wen i bought my turret press all i hears was how the classic cast was so much better , but not much of why

longer stroke + more clearance= indexing on rifle cartridge
primers eject out the bottom of the ram

wallenba - the ram runs out of stroke

the good news is at least all my accessories will still work when i upgrade to the classic cast in the future

Not to mention much stronger press than the classic.

Glad to be of some help with your problem.

The old orig. aluminum Lee did fine for its intended purpose which was basically to load pistol ammo.

Now the all steel, Lee Classic Turret , it can load the 30-06 with the auto indexing feature working. A very nice press.

GREENCOUNTYPETE, indexing by hand isn't that bad if you make yourself a little leverage tool. I made this with some sections of dowell rod and a vacuum "Y", I just sanded the rods to fit in the "Y" and added a little dab of super glue.
It just lays between the dies and makes turning them a little more convenient and a little less twist on the wrist. Now my rifle shells don't bind the press.

Lead-1 that Is very clever , but would run into the safety primer feed my press is only 6 months old it is a current production 4 hole turret just not a classic cast.

it really isn't hard to turn , a drip of oil now and then and it rotates smooth between the positive clicks at each station.

makes you think they would come up with a larger disk kit upgrade to better cover rifle cartridges like 30-06 if someone wanted a near case fill powder in one , for use with the cast turret press

Pete, just grind about 1/4" off the bottom of the boolit seater die and you can use the auto-index feature. You could also cut a notch in it and debur it if you got your die depth set permanently. I've done it with the same setup you have, it works.
