130 grain cast bullet in 7x57

I have an 1898 calvalry model spanish mauser with a 17 inch barrel, I have slugged out the bore and bought a lee mold throwing 130 grain bullet. I need help finding a good load, I have tried 22,23 and 25 grains of IMR 4895 without good accuracy. Does anyone have a load they would like to share that they had success with this model?

This was shot at 80 yards . I started out with a " squeaky clean " bore. The 1st few rounds didn't group well, but after about the 4th or 5th shot ( and a good film of bullet lube in the bore ) , things really began to settle down and the rounds began to group real well .

Thanks, I'll have to give it a try, do you have any experience with Bullseye, Blue Dot or Unique with the 7mm?

16 gr of 2400 works great in my 7x57s with 130 cast, not Lee, though. 10 gr of Unique should
be pretty good, too.

Same rifle same mould, 10 grns of Green Dot, with or without gas check, shoots some better with. As cast from wheel weight lubed with 45%bees wax 45%crisco 10% olive oil.

you could just try a filler with your 4895 load.
it does much better when it is all against the primer taking away the ignition inconsistencies.
oddly though my x57 done its best with 24 grs I-4895 and a 145 gr boolit and no filler.
or 19 grs 2400 and a L/P primer.
the short 130 might not be filling your throat or diameter. and something like a 168 might be in order.

Have you cleaned the bore yet? I mean REALLY cleaned it? It's rare IME to find many of those fine old girls without a lot of fouling in the bore. Start with a squeaky clean barrel no matter what load you use.
