I have been using white label lube on Lee round nose bullets for my 44 mag Marlin levergun. I have been using mineral spirits and a rag to clean the dried lube from the exposed part of the bullet before shooting them because I was afraid that over time the lube might gum up the inner workings of the gun. Is this neccessary?

If you clean your gun often i can't see were it would be an issue

if your life depends on it clean it like your life depends on it.

if your a casual range shooter then clean as needed if it becomes a problem or enough to keep the gun up.

If it is that difficult to get off how would it get into the action? FWIW - I don't bother cleaning the boolit noses.

Other than looks, can't see any difference in performance.

It may not matter on your Range session rounds - but for hunting - I would (and do) clean them off.

The lude can pick up dirt/grit and what ever - you don't want that in your chamber.

Just my opinion.

If you carry them for a while they won't pick up dirt and lint if clean AND not tacky.

If you are talking about alox or xlox, if it comes off in the seating die and plugs it up why would it not come off in the magazine or as you chamber the round?

I clean mine but a lot of folks find me irritating!
