Whats IMR5010 used for, other than 50BMG? Or should I say, what could you use IMR5010 in, other than the 50BMG?

I've shot a lot of it in the 6.5 X 55 with the 140 gr. J Word bullet.

Super accurate.

Another 50 BMG fuel--WC 860--has done good work for me in the 6.5 x 55. 55.0 grains underneath a Hornady 140 spitzer gave 2475 FPS in a 22" barrel (Ruger 77R) and fine accuracy.

Gives BP type velocity when duplexed in straight wall cases and excellent accuracy. I also use it duplexed in bottle neck cases like 30/06 and also get excellent accuracy but will move past the BP velocity range in bottle neck cases. This of cource with boolits, as I have never tried with bullets.

Would it work in the 500 S&W with a 440cast boolit? That would be nice and I want a little hotter load than my 11.3grains of Unique load I use at this time.

I pulled some factory Corbon 440's and found they are loaded with h-4227.
If you check your burn rate chart you will see a bit of a gap between 4227 and 5010
If you try it I am sure it will go bang when you pull the trigger but wouldnt expect much except a lovely fire ball.
Realy you will need a sealed breach and a rifle length barrel to get the effect I was talking about.

OH well shut my mouth! Dont know why I was thinking revolver. I bet it will work just fine duplexed in that encore barrel. Give it a go.

In the 6.5 X 55 I was using a 140 spire with 45.5 grs. of IMR 5010. In some brass you can get up to 49.0 grs. . I've never seen any signs of excess pressure.
