I have found that WC872 can be sucessfully used as a smokless alternitive to my standard Black Powder load in my 45-70 rolling block. Using the same bullet I like for long range work with this rifle, 545 grain Gunn 349c cast 30-1 lead/tin and lubed with SPG, a duplex load of 63 grains of WC872 over 2 grains of RL-7 gives an average of 1352 FPS with no leading or fouling. Twenty shots at 300 yards came in around 2.5 moa. I found after firing the test loads that I had left the eye cup on my tang sight loose so next time I am pretty sure the group will be well under 2moa. Good enough for use at matches that allow smokless loads when the weather is hot and dry and black powder fouling issues come into play. Saves on having to go to wiping between every shot in these situations.:drinks:

I'd say stock up as the stuff has a habit of getting more expensive as the years pass and will last forever if treated right.

Accurate used to have data for their 870 in their manuals. I have used it in my 40-65 with excellent results.

Not WC-872......I've had very good accuracy in 45-70 using 405 grain Lee plain-base atop 6.0 grains if IMR-4198 followed by 48.0 grains of WC-860. Clean burn/no bore trash, 1300-1325 FPS, and 1.25-1.5 MOA to 300 yards. An all-day load in my Ruger #1, even the daughters enjoy shooting it (Dad, that's s BIG OLD rifle round!). Federal 215 primers start the music, I should add.
