Does anyone have any pressure data at all for SR7625? I want to compare it to data output from QuickLoad while using Unique and HS-6. I tried 14.2 grains of 7625 behind a 270 grain PB today in my 444 and the groups were pretty bad. Velocity was very consistent (4.9 std. dev.) and averaged 1351 fps for 14 rounds. Meanwhile, the barrel stayed very clean.

I've only ever used it in small pistol cartridges where it was a little slower than Red Dot. IIRC there was data in the 3rd Lyman Cast book but I don't know for what cartridges. It's one of those powders that I don't recall ever really excelling at anything in particular.

My Lyman cast bullet handbook does not list any pressure data or loads for 270 gr. For 250 gr. 429244 SR7625--12.5 gr. 1285 fps-17 gr. 1560 fps.

Lyman's 3rd lists 6.2 grns max for 945 fps @ 17,000 psi in a 45 ACP with a 200 grn boolit--452-460. Theonly listings I see that have pressures are for pistol or revolver cartridges. It seems to lie between Green Dot and Unique, but I have never used it. The only "Dupont" pistol powder I have used is PB.

I have only used it in 20 ga. and it was not clean burning in that. 444 is a big case it may be a poor choice for you even with low Std.Dev.

Thank you... I found that data. According to Lyman, 20% more Unique produces less pressure than SR7625. There was no leading today but I'm guessing my loads were a couple thousand psi beyond the plastic limit of my alloy.
