Hello Darrell.
I think this will complete the run then...with 5 orders.
I will take a 3 cavity mould gas checked
1 Cavity to be hollowpointed please. If the hollowpointing tool can come with a reversible pin to make a flat point that would be greatly appreciated....or send me a blank pin to make my own flat point out of it please.
Please PM me with a total including the shipping amount you quoted me in the previous PM
Thanks for doing this.

Please forgive my stupid question, but how would this bullet work in a Model 7 350 Remington? This really is turning into an illness. I don't even have that rifle yet but have been wanting one for a long while and purchasing a mold would make an excellent excuse to buy the rifle. :bigsmyl2:

Mike, it's all about twist with this boolit. Some here have reported being able to get it to work with a 16 twist, some not. Fourteen twist will work. This is an extremely good boolit in the 35 Whelen (for one), and pretty to look at, too.

10-06-2011, 10:10 AM
It is a long bullet...I would perhaps be concerned with it taking up powder space. Not sure how long the neck is on the 350, but if I recall correctly, it is a shorter neck than the Whelen.

FYI-- I bought this mold in the original GB. It shoots well in my Rem 700 35 Whelen. I then tried paper patching it with and without a gas check in my Ruger #1 in 8.3X74R. Shoots under an inch at 100 yds with or without the gas check. Just thought I would mention it to open the GB to those with 9.3s. I have a 9.3X62 that's next on the list to try.

Like bullshot I'll be shooting this bullet in a Rem 700. It has a Kreiger barrel with about 50 rounds through it so I expect a lot from it. With luck I may have a load for the 2012 deer season. I'm also in the 245gr 358318 group buy but thats on the August schedule.

Please read Swede's post "Future Group Buys" in group buy discussions. After July 2012 we need 30 orders to get on the production schedule. Those with less than 30 will continue to get pushed back as others teach 30. We have 25 in this GB. We need 5 more right now! Get off the fence if thats where you have been sitting. The ball is in our court now.

I have five .350s and a .358...just always wanted to try a real heavy.... If it doesn't work we go to plan B...whatever that is....
Just did some measuring... With the LOA of the bullet the base of the bullet will be about even with the bottom of the shoulder of the case. This bullet is exactly as long as a Hawk 250 grain Semi-Point. Should work ok....

Bump
Swede Nelson
For some reason, I never got an update notice, when Swede posted this, or when the previous discussion was going on about the change. (And I haven't been on the forums much, to see that a change was implemented.)
So... This means, for this buy, that we're pretty much stuck here until we get 30 orders.
This is not a popular bullet, and has taken more than a year to get the 25(?) molds currently on the list, and took a while before that to get enough interest for the buy to even be created.
Many other buys pick up orders far quicker than less popular bullets like the 358009. So, as long as another buy exceeds the number of orders we have here, they will always take precedence and bump us back. Correct?
And, since production is locked through at least January, we have absolutely ZERO hope of seeing this mold before, say, April 2013?
Blammer, Swede, am I wrong?
Blammer
07-07-2012, 07:19 PM
Production is not locked through January.
IF no more orders are taken on any of the moulds that is the current order they will be made.
two things could occur.
1. NOE runs this as an INVENTORY run and you get it sooner.
2. we get a lot of orders and it 'bumps' to the front of the line or up the list some.
any GB can be 'fast tracked' meaning there are a LOT of orders for it an it gets put at the top of the 'get it made' list.
say for example Mould A and Mould B both have 25 orders and are on the list, if Mould B gets 5 more orders it will be made first.
By the same token, if Mould C comes along and suddenly becomes really popular and has 40 orders in a week or two, it will rocket past the first two mentioned above, it will be made first.
frankenfab
07-07-2012, 07:21 PM
Don't think so. I believe there are going to be 1 or 2 "inventory runs" a month for molds that NOE already has tooling for. This mold has already been run, so they already have the tooling.
SquirrelHollow
07-07-2012, 10:21 PM
Blammer, I understand the new policy's theoretical operation. What I was referring to, was the actual impact on this buy (the 358009).
If we managed to get another 5 commitments for this mold, even over 5 months, I would be surprised.
We COULD be bumped up by being put on the schedule as an "Inventory Run", but the I doubt that would happen. Even with Swede already having the reamer(s) for this mold, this is the second oldest group buy on the "waiting for 30 orders" list.
The fact that it is unpopular would definitely prevent me from making it a priority as an "Inventory Run", if I were in Swede's position. He is, after all, running a business, not a charity.
In addition, I spoke to Swede about this bullet, while in his shop last year. He expressed some frustration about complaints related to wrinkles, poor fill-out, and temperature issues due to nose design and cavity size. I don't think Swede wants to deal with the (even minor) frustration this bullet may create, if he has other no-complaint "money makers" that can be run first. Obviously, only Swede knows, for sure.
I'm just looking for an answer that will give some clarification as to this buy's future (at least through the end of the year). If I have to wait another year to see this mold, I'll have to drop out of this group buy and have some one else cut one for me. But, I know that sets the entire group buy back (under the new policy); so I was hoping for an answer that everyone involved in the buy would be able to read and understand.

07-11-2012, 06:19 PM
Blammer, please take me off the list.
I would have posted my thoughts in the discussion thread for this buy, but it seems to have been deleted.
I needed this mold for this year's Elk hunt. Even with Al's constantly "sliding" schedule, I should have gotten the mold in time. The change in policy, of course, eliminated nearly any possibility of that happening. The change in policy was needed, as frustrating as it is; but it doesn't work for me, with this particular mold.
Honchos like Blammer (and Al) are seeing some buys really take off with fence-sitters finally committing to other buys, or members ordering multiple molds to get on the schedule. So, it looks like things should work out for Al. But... those other buys taking off are not conducive to me getting this mold in a reasonable amount of time.
In the last 2 weeks, 5 other group buys (128, 126, 107, 117, and 112) have hit or exceeded the 30-mold threshold. For all intents and purposes, they are committed to going on the schedule. In addition, 6 other buys (105, 136, 116, 134, 144, and 115) have more molds ordered than this buy, with a few picking up orders quite fast. (GB105 may actually have 30+ orders - the count seems to be off, or the list not updated.) Which means... without an increase in production capability or a complete failure for multiple other buys to get all the money together, the earliest this buy could go on the regular production schedule would be July 2013 (not counting any time lost to holidays or other delays).
I just can't wait that long. Even if we managed to get on the schedule as "early" as March or April, it would still be too late for me. I look forward to future group buys, once this nasty transition period is over. But, I can't wait on this mold any longer.
So, rather than sending my money 25 miles south to Al, I'm going to have to send it 25 miles north to Tom (Accurate). That will also allow me to get the brass mold I've wanted all along.
Sorry for bailing out on you guys. Hopefully, Al will schedule the 358009 as an inventory run, so the buy doesn't sit in limbo forever.

bearcove, others
With everything that is going on at this time I'm just trying to get
the next 2 or 3 months worked out.
I think any kind of a "Inventory" run at this time would be foolhardy
and a schedule for inventory runs would be just another guess. I'm not going to
even try until I have some of the problems at hand taken care of.
On a up side we have two very encouraging things in the works that
I hope will get us back on track and get more moulds out.
Hope to be able to expand on this in a week or two.
I'm very sorry that I cant give you better answers but this is where we are.

Considering this thread is over a year old, do the prices need to be adjusted, ever so slightly, to compensate the current production costs? I it cost me an extra 5 or 10 and keep NOE around. I am growing fond of their molds… LOL

Warboar, Give me until tomorrow evening. I just picked up about 5 or 6 Lyman manuals and I know the 350 Rem Mag was in at least two of them. I will see if they have anything listed for the 358009.
PS, I remember the 350 being listed because I was looking for the data on the 35 Whelen and not a single book had any. They all went from 358 Win to 350... LOL

Warbore, the ONLY bullet I could find listed for the 350 Rem Mag over 250gr in the 16 manuals I have and looked in was the 275gr Hornady bullet in two old Hodgdon manuals...

One of the listings was in a first print, first addition Hodgdon book bought in 1977...

Thought I would give a little teaser...
358009 bullets in a 35 Whelen (L) and a 357 Herrett (R).
Both bullets have been set .02 off the lands and they look textbook, or close to it IMHO. I wonder how a 270gr HP will do out of a 26in Encore barrel in 357 Herrett?

Looks great TCTex. I have been searching (to no avail) for data on the 350 so I can load these up and give em a whirl. Am thinking to just use Whelen data as several of my manuals have them both at about the same charge weight for same powders. I would drop the charge by 10% or so just to make sure i'm safe.
BTW in the 47th edition of Lyman's book they have a listing for the 35Whelen and this bullet. If you haven't found the data yet let me know and I can send the data to you.
bearcove
11-03-2012, 01:39 PM
Don't use whelen data. The cases are similar in capacity but different shape. Powder burns different
In ken Waters pet loads he has load data for 300 gr Jacketed. I would use that. Then work up if you wanted.

This bullet may not fit within the confines of your M7 2.8" mag box...
Take the measurement of the bullet nose length in the drawing and add it to your case length to see if you are under 2.8"..

With the current schedule, and current active GB counts, my best guess puts this as #2 for August or #1 for September. So, delivery would likely be October (later, if the schedule slides, or another buy supersedes this one).
But, as I said, that's just my best guess. NOE makes the decisions -- though, Al is very aware of this GB.
(He already has the tooling, and it's one of the oldest active group buys with more than a dozen or so commitments.)
Shakey Jakey
12-18-2012, 02:36 AM
I spent some time studying the new policy last night and it seems that this could run at any time as an "inventory run" since the tooling is already on the shelf. Its the more obscure boolits that have not ever been cut yet that could be years in line. Actually, this one and the 35-200 are excellent candidates to be cut soon, if I am interpreting the situation correctly.
