................This is NOT my work, I just made it a sticky via cut and paste into a new post. Wiljen is the author, did all the work and deserves all the kudo's, etc & etc.

################################################## ###############

The program is a reloading reference that includes all the freely available data from powder manufacturers, all the cartridge dimensions I could find, all the bullet SD and BCs I could gather, primer references, shell holder and shell plate references, all the surplus powder data I could find on Castpics and Cast boolits. I have documented all loading data by source. It allows for adding comments to load data.

First off a big thanks to John for his help with a couple of access gotchas.

This new version has over 260 Cartridges, 140 Powders, and 20,000+ loads. I have added the ADI powders for our Australian friends, all of the data from the new Ramshot 4.1 manual, the new Accurate website data, the Accurate data powder data (under surplus powders), and all the data from the new Hodgdon data website. I do believe this to be the most comprehensive reference available at this point and will continue to add as my time permits. Having said that - future updates will be in a format that can be incorporated into existing data to preserve user additions and comments.

As always, your comments are appreciated and if you really like this thing, throw sundog a few bucks to keep this place open.

Thank You JohnBoy. It is now over 500 downloads so it must be getting some use.Wiljen

Wiljen,

My thanks as well! If you'd like to expand it a bit, I have some data about commercial & milsurp powders that you might want to take a look at. I can give them to you as Excel files if that will help. e-mail me at kennethmollohan@yahoo.com in you want.

AL-8 This is the original Alcan AL-8 as was sold during the 1960's and '70s. A flake powder which can be also loaded using Hercules (Alliant) Blue Dot data (begin with starting loads). This is new powder.
IMR4475 Original application was U.S. 7.62mm NATO (.308) Ball M80. Was approved as a substitute for WC846. IMR4475 is an extruded powder which has a burning rate similar to IMR3031.
IMR4895 Original application is U.S. .30 Cal Ball M2, AP M2, Tracer M25, and Match M72. THE powder of choice for M1 Garands. An extruded powder which can be loaded using IMR4895 data. This final lot I have came from 1972 loaded Tracer M25 ammo.
WC680(n) Original application is for the 7.62x39mm "AK-47" round. This is a ball powder, which can be loaded using AA1680 data.
WC820 Orignal application is for the U.S. Cal. .30 Carbine Ball M1 round. This lot loads at 13.5gr with 110gr FMJ projectile. This is a ball powder which can be loaded using Accurate Arms #9 (AA#9) data.
WC820(n) Orignal application is for the U.S. Cal. .30 Carbine Ball M1 round. This lot loads at 14gr with 110gr FMJ projectile. This is a ball powder which can be loaded using Accurate Arms #9 (AA#9) data.
WC820(f) This is an unusual lot of WC820 that was rejected for use in .30 Carbine ammunition, due to the too fast burning rate. This is a ball powder which can be loaded using Hodgdon HS7 data or Win571 data.
WC820(f) lot #47321 is more like H110 than AA #9.
WC844 Original application is U.S. 5.56mm NATO Ball M193 (55gr) & M855 (62gr), plus Tracer M196 & M856. Typical 55gr load is 26gr, and 62gr load is 25gr. A ball powder which can be loaded using Hodgdon H335 data.
WC846 Original application is U.S. 7.62mm NATO Ball M80 and Tracer M62, typically loaded around 44-45 grains. This is a ball powder which can be loaded using Hodgdon BL-C(2) data.
WC850 Same as H-380. Assoc. w/ chamber ringing. Do not use loads w/ more than 10% air sapce.
WC852 Sold as H-414. Burning rate similar to WW760.
WW760BR Older version of WW760. Also sold as H-414.
WC852(s) lot #47287 is more like RL-19/H4831.
WC860 Original application is U.S. .50 Cal. BMG ammo, used for the Ball M33 and API M8 projectile. A ball powder which can be loaded using Hodgdon H870 or AA8700 data.
WC872(n) Original application is U.S. 20mm Vulcan ammo. A ball powder which can be loaded using Hodgdon H870 or AA8700 data.

that is the page best accessed to make donations, merely noting it is for :cbpour: is ample for ID.

Again, thanks to Wiljen and No_1 for the fantastic support of the site.

I posted a new version today. It includes shot shell data. I have also upgraded to the Access 2007 Runtime to solve some of the vista issues. If you have added your own data - PM me and I'll work with you on upgrading.

I also would like opinions - Keep the manuals and targets or lose them and focus on just data? They do take up most of the room so losing them in the lite version has really streamlined things. Should I make them a separate package?

Now is your chance - tell me what ya think.

Wiljen; Congratulations on a great program. I have tried to download previous versions but have never been successful. This time I ran into a similar problem where my Access was too old a version and then your option to install runtime hung up (complete system). For those who may encounter the problem what solved it for me was to go to the Microsoft site and download/install the updated Windows Installer then after the next installation failed I went back to the Windows site to install Access 2007 Runtime. Eh voila -- success. Great program in the few minutes I've looked at it.

I hope the burn out will fade with a bit of a rest. And I see you were disappointed not to get any feedback/recommendations. If you don't mind I'll start compiling some and send them on in the hope that you'll start working on the 11mm or 577-450 version!

Take care

Steve

I have posted version 9 tonight and will be making Disks for those I promised over the weekend. This will likely be the final version of it as I'm getting burned out and have other projects demanding time.

Enjoy.

I just downloaded the program and all the components and am duly impressed.

Now I just need to play with it some more. :drinks:

Question: As we start developing our own MDBs, would it be a good future project to compile them into a massive MDB ?

Oh - and as a Geek Aside: Why did you use Access rather than an Open Source DB like Open Office Base? I'm especially curious since it's on an Open Source host...

Are you trying use the import function or the edit data sheets?

Hi Wiljen,

I'm trying to use the Maintenance/edit data tables/edit cast data options. Seemed more likely than importing spreadsheets. I have a lot to learn yet on how to use it, and the basic problem is probably my own ignorance.

I think the DATA is a subject in and of itself. The manuals and targets have to be a beautiful topping on the cake!

Two subjects, two discs. Another option, one disc - DVD 100% of all of it, one or two discs - DATA and manuals.

Shipping essentially the same in either case, downloads much more manageable.

Charge for disc(s) and shipping - downloads for free or as you see fit.

With only a 24Kps connection, I was nearly heart-broken when I heard that you were discontinuing shipping the disc(s).

I know you are burnout on this project and it would be nice if a few things could be easy to change
One in the alloy caclulator if we could put in the cost of the lead as it is changing so fast in the real world.
Also I wonder if a lot of folks were having problems with this because they didn't have their macro level set or set low enough for your program to work? It was a long time before this got through my thick head.
Otherwise so far you have a really great program.
Can we add manuals if we find them?
I can now look at this and see just what is here now everything works. thanks again for producing this for us.

You can! there is a button on the page for Add/Edit Alloys that allows you to change the price you pay on any of them.

Also I wonder if a lot of folks were having problems with this because they didn't have their macro level set or set low enough for your program to work? It was a long time before this got through my thick head.

It has a registry entry that will attempt to set that for you but it depends on the system.

Can we add manuals if we find them?

If you have access yes, currently I don't have the forms linked in the runtime version.

First I'd like to say thanks again for such a huge effort you've put into this project.

I went to the download site and am wondering if the RRv93x74r.exe file contains everything? I found a different spot to download the manuals in a couple of different files, Do I need these also in addition to the 93x74r.exe file?
I just want to download and make a backup incase it dissapears at some point.

Thanks

Ok, I'm having a lot of trouble getting this to download and work. I'm running Vista and I don't have MS Access on my computer, so I'm downloading it with the program. It will say it successfully downloaded and installed the program, but the installation window will not "finish" and it locks up. The only way I can close it is using the task manager. Any tips or hints? Please?

The RRv93x74r.exe file is the core program. It does have all the reloading Data.
The additional files are Manuals and Targets. The program will work without the additional files and will provide all functions sans manuals and printable targets.

I have posted a readme file on Sourceforge that documents the issue selmerfan and some others were having. It is not a problem with the program per say, but an issue with Vista security. I have sent Selmerfan and HollandNut a copy of the fix as well as posting it to the download site to avoid further problems. if you have Vista, download the VistaReadme file and follow the instructions on the page or RR will show up as Read-only and wont let you use most of the functions.

This is a known FALSE Positive. It has been scanned with Norton, AVG, and Trend and all come back clean.

Hi Wiljen,

Man I sure hope you got some help with this project, it's huge, and Awesome! I've been playing with it for a couple of days now and it's working great for me. I just have one question...

I have XP with MS Access and I keep getting a failure message when I try to back up the program. Is there something I need to do first like set up a file/destination? Or how do I back up the data now that I've gotten it all entered.

A little more info please! What are you talking about? What data ? What program? What?

OK.....First you may want to read this entire thread. The software was developed by our own Wiljen and it is extremely helpful.

Second, post #67 has the link to the newest version, 9.3x74r.

Here is the link...... http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=200180 .

Any way this will work with Win2000 Pro? I hate XP and I heard vista is much better.

You may find that you'll need to download an older version. and then install the newest version. I had to install version 7.62 and then installed 9.3 on Windows 2000. You can get it to work if you have a little patience and Wiljen will help if you have a specific question, I am sure. He obviously put a good bit of time and effort into a great program.

It will work with windows 2000, you just need access 2003 or the runtime. The access runtime (2007) that is embedded in the install requires XP or newer.

Wiljin,
Please help me , I posted in another location and got no answers.
I have reloaders reference on a portable harddrive that I use for all of my reloading info.
I think it is the finest program I have ever used and thank you for all of the hours you spent developing it and adding all the info.
In the inventory column I want to add all of the gear I have (Lee loaders, press, and the rest of the junk on collects) for insurance purposes and just to have a written record of it all.

Now I can build a computer and troubleshoot one but when it comes to messing with programs "No Way"
Is there a safe way to add headings and data to the program that can be explained in two letter words so an old dummy like me can understand it?

Again Thank you for all the work you put in to a fantastic program!!!

There is a readme for vista. Once installed, you have to adjust a couple of permissions due to the new security features of vista.

Wiljen, this is great. Can you search while in the groups? If I am in the molds ref section, can I search a mold instead of paging through all? Or is it there and I am just missing it?
Thanks,

Just found this tool while looking for some CB data for a friend's .30-30. It is working under Windows7 and Office 2007. I did have to make a folder (C:\Test1) and copy the coredata.mdb to it because I couldn't redirect Access 2007 to find it. After that it works as advertised and is the most awesomely complete reference I've ever seen. GREAT JOB! Thank you!

I downloaded from the first address posted and my Access is too old. The no Access option took all night to install. Thought it was locked, but no, it was soooooo slow to install on my XP Professional machine. I also got Norton Virus notice which was disconcerting. I ignored that and the program is finally working. No chance to really play with it yet.

Is the second listing of the address different with a different program?.

Wiljen,

Great Program, thanks for all your Hard work. I Love this multitude of Information. I made some changes to the program to include some of the items that I like to have included. Not being familiar with any programing at all, I was able to deciefer the Code, Tables, Forms, Reports and add the following Items. Its just the way I like it.

In the Inventory Menu the following items are added.
Reloading Dies- Add / Edit / Search
Live Ammo Inventory- Add / Edit / Search
Primer Inventory- Primer Inventory (Table)
Firearms- Add To Inventory (Blank Form)
Powder Inventory- Powder Inventory (Table)
Reloading Cost Calc- Fixed, and included costs for New and Reloaded Ammo
Print Inventories- Added Reloading Dies and Caliber Search, Previews and Print
Print Inventories- Added Live Ammo and Cartridge Search, Previews and Print

In the Reference Section, Added
Dillion 450-550 Caliber Conversions

In the Firearms Manuals, Added
Add to Manuals for Each Manual

In the Targets, Added
Add Targets and Search Targets by Group

Fixed Several Names, Descriptions & Layouts of Tables, Forms & Reports

Thanks for all this great info in one spot. And for allowing Changes and Additions to the Program.

I run Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on 3 different computers at my home, (yes...I am a gamer, gunsmith, shooter, reloader).
I Have 2 1TB HDD's in all of them, (non-raid configurations).
I played around with various install methods and found that the fastest access comes from installing everything in [ X:\Test1\ ] and placing a shortcut in my "Desktop Shortcuts" file.
I installed the files and programs straight into the directory, ignoring "Program Files (x86)" and it runs fast and flawlessly.

Great job on this program!

So, in other words, you simply installed it into a pre-made directory of its own and then short-cutted directly from your desktop? No install issues whatsoever?

I just tried that and it is telling me "Windows can't open this file." "In order to open this file, you must designate which program to open this file with."

The install automatically generated a shortcut icon to my desktop. I am going to try running it directly out of the directory I created for the file - perhaps that might do something different, but I do not see how?

That is typically caused by a conflict with the Access runtime or telling it you have access installed during the setup when you don't or it cant find it.

Try downloading the access runtime here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=10910
and install it and see if that doesnt solve it.

wiljen - you are da man! This thing is outstanding! (Even though I am running 64 bit Win7 I had to download 32 bit Access runtime because my MS Office is 32 bit - but it worked like a charm.)

Now my problem is going to be spending too much time entering all my recipes and data out of my card file over the next year or more. I'm going to have to force myself to do enough rolling, casting and shooting ... and not so much time perusing through the data already installed.

Mootchos gratzeeazz!

Had a little trouble with the install...I have Access, but on opening the program got an error message to the effect that the file type was not recognized. Re-installed choosing the "Don't have Access" option & all is well. Up and running!

Very impressive program which I am sure took a lot of time and effort to create. A virtual beer or three to you sir:-) Thank you very much for your efforts...much appreciated!

Best.......John

Wiljen,

As a long-time reloader, beginner cast bullet fanatic, and functionally computer illiterate old guy, I must congratulate you on a great piece of work! It took a few minutes of going through the read-me files, following the directions given here, and a bit of stumbling about on my part, but I now have it up and running on my Windows 7 machine.

Again, thank you for a great resource!

Molly; where did you find this information, one of the teardown dealers?

Hi Swheeler,

All of that information came from various internet sources, and at this late date I don't recall where most of it came from. But I believe the warning on WC850 came from Patsreloading (??). Not positive, and it's old data in any case because it's not on his curtent listing.

I have just found this database and I am blown away! This is the most incredible collection of information in one place that I have EVER seen. My sincere thank you and more for all the folks involved with this project. Being an absolute amateur at any type of programming I can only imagine the amount of work and research that was involved in creating this compendium. Just fantastic. Hats off to all!

I downloaded from the link in post 1 and it seemed to load fine and added a shortcut to my desktop and when I doubleclick it goes to the file folder and will not open the program. I have windows 8 and it says I need windows OFFICE to open this and I don't have it
What can I or should I do?

That is typically caused by a conflict with the Access runtime or telling it you have access installed during the setup when you don't or it cant find it.

Try downloading the access runtime here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=10910
and install it and see if that doesnt solve it.

Wiljen

Savage308 see this post, hopefully the link to Access Runtime made it through for the shortcut.

First of all let me thank you for all of your hard work on this program. I have a program that I paid for and it is not nearly as good as yours. Everything works great except for when I try to back up my data files. I get a "this action has stopped due to a runtime error" and the application shuts down. I am running a Windows 8.1 64 bit computer. I sure that it's due to some stupid mistake I made. Do you have any suggestion?

I tried to download it and when I try to open a segment I get the message that the file path is incorrect and whole parts of it did not download with the program. The only thing I could see was the lead composition page but I could not put numbers in it and the dropdown box wouldn't work.

Thats the same problem I am having, when I open the program it shows but when I try to use it I keep getting the file path is not correct and it will not let me do any thing. I am using windows 8, I have re installed this thing 3 times and it never works like it should.

I got it to work finally, I deleted the program and started over and made a new folder in the C drive of (Test 1) downloaded it to that folder and after hours of waiting for it to install it finally was working. I hope this was worth all the trouble.

Hi, I am currently using this database and love it (THANKS WILJEN!!) and I have 2 questions
1.) How do I add additional shotshell hull types so they come up in the dropdown
2.)On the maintenance tab one of the options is to import spreadsheet. Is there a sample or template available for this?? I would hate to spend hours typing in data only to find my format was wrong and the data got screwed up.
Thanks for any help.

I have rrv9 loaded and running. Great program thanks. Get a record source Dillion450-550Conversion specified on this form or report does not exist.
Does anyone know how to fix this, the table is in coredata but there must be a link missing or something.

Thanks
Bob

I found this program through a google search rather than looking through the forum. I installed it and at first it didn't work. It didn't see a folder called "Test1" on my C drive so I created one and copied the contents of the entire folder that was installed in the program files directory (probably didn't need all that stuff) and it works great. Thanks!

UPDATE:

For those who, just like me, are just now finding this resource.... Here's the way to happiness for the install

I am running this program on Widows 10, with all the latest updates. So, it will work on your system also.

1) Download RRv93x74r.exe , per Wiljen's link in Post #1
2) Run the exe file, yes, it's safe, no bugs....
3) Answer yes when it asks you if you want to change system properties and install it.
4) If you already have Microsoft Access installed as a part of the Microsoft Office Suite, then select the first option. Otherwise, select the second option, and it will give you a "runtime" version of Access, so that the program will work.
go slow now... no hurrying, or you will miss the next step
5) When the window opens, with the suggested install directory, change the path to: C:\Test1 <<< Must be that for the program to work properly
6) Program will install itself to C:\Test1, and make a clickable link in your Start Button. That clickable link includes the actual program file: RR v9.3x74r, and also an uninstall ability. Click that RR v9.3x74r to start this program, and it will start up.
7) Another important step... Because I have Microsoft Office Security Measures enabled, it disables the data results. There is a bar with that info. If you click on the Options button on that bar, you will get this window:
178929
Make sure you select to Enable the Contents.

Hope that helps others. Lots of load data there.

Hello,
I have new to me rifle in a 7x.357 max wildcat i wa told by the seller was.280 Rockway. Of which I can find no information for on the web. I have been able to fabricate brass from .357 max brass using a 7x57 and 300BO die with a lot of trial and error. Are forming loads shot well at 25yrds off hand at about 2 inchs with 7.2 of AA#9(what my Little dandy throws with an #18 rotor), I was wondering if anyone had heard of this wild one or had any load info they were willing to share. I am headed to the range again this weekend and I am thinking of starting things off with 10 go of 4227 and a 139 seaco tapered pope breach seated and working my way up from there. Accuracy at 200 yards is the goal. Am I way off reservation? Any thoughts? The rifle is on a falling block works K frame.
