Almost seems a shame, to send them down a bore, only to get big grooves carved in them eh? ;)

Not bad Merlin, my first cast had a falure rate of about 50%, so you are off to a better start than I was.

Well Done, and you had a far better sucess rate than my first "few" attempts, keep up the good work and enjoy!

I too am advancing on the learninig curve. Cleaning the molds of my friends over-generous use of lube. It doesn't take much. Remember Brilcream "A little dab 'll do ya".

Not bad! I have been casting for 8 months now, and I have yet to post any pics of the boolits I have made, none f mine look that good at all. Not the my guns mind my ugly boolits, they shoot just as well. Not bad at all!

Cool, I just did a second batch (wrinkled first batch)
poured about 400 bullets had to chuck about 100 (poor sprue plate cut, or poor seal)
The "waste" got smaller as I progressed and got the feel for the throw on the pot.
I just lubed and sized, gas checked them too.

Good Job feelow newbie

Good job, seems you have a great work ethic! Now you HAVE bullets, that's the part worth knowing. Also, it's a added bonus when you have a forum for doing a little harmless showing off. Ten years ago, nobody was really paying attention when I started.

Enjoy, bud.

Thanks guys. I have read a lot before I started Casting. The second batch I did yesterday morning were wrinkle free. I let mold get hotter before I started and didn't pause as much.
Plus the second batch was used with a ladle not a converted spoon. So it worked a lot better I could pour faster. Now I have to go shoot some of my older reloads so I can have more brass to load these.

Yeah, there's the question. Do we cast to shoot or shoot to cast? For me it's both. Congratulations on your success. You will have challenges along the way, but always remember this success and you will see them through.

looks like another convert, it’s a great sense of accomplishment from making something from scratch and then working up a load using items you have crafted yourself, i do like the comment from Wayne Smith "Do we cast to shoot or shoot to cast?" and I’m in his camp, for me to its both as well.
