A friend of mine bought this rifle, and he wants me to do the reloading for him.

So I shop around for a 7.62x39 die set and some mold, but when I researched for the mold, a lot of sizes for the bullet came up. I'm having doubt what to get. Lee does have a 2 cavity, and there's a group buy going on for this bullet but it is .314.

Can somebody please help? I need the actual diameter of the bullet that this gun uses, maybe someone here already have this gun. I think this is a new model and hopes that the bore or the bullet it uses is .308!

My friend gives me one bullet, headstamp is MFS 7.62X39. Can I disassemble it, measure the slug and buys the mold with the same diameter of the measured slug?

Please help me point to a right direction..

Mods, I don't know where to post it, I hope this is the right section.

Slug the bore with lead fishing sinker to find out the diameter of the bore.

Paul is right. You really don't know what that rifle is until you have slugged that barrel and probably made a throat cast or model. Until then you may find out the average of the production but do not know how that rifle relates to the average.

You wont go wrong with the Lee 155" Harris" Bullet for AK's or other 'fat" 30's like the 303 Brit 7.65 Argie,7.62 x 54 etc.i use it as cast at .314 or size it to .311 for smaller rifles/chambers.If it will chamber at .314 shoot it regardless of your bore groove and diameter. The bullets nose has a gentle lead angle and is forgiving on those sloppy chambers. That,s what Ed had in mind when he designed the bullet.

Thanks, I will search for that mold, Lee 155 "Harris". Actually, this is the first time I've heard
about this mold.

The CZ-858, VZ-58 or Czech Small Arms fire the same 7.62X39mm cartridge as the AK-47/AKM. Any mould that will work for the AK will work for the CZ-858. With the price of cheap Czech surplus ammo, I don't bother reloading/casting for my CZ-858 rifles. I'm assuming that cheap surplus isn't as widely available in the Phillipines?
