Picked up a Stevens Model 887 rifle, got a great buy on it and a brick of Remington Vipers two boxes missing and two 100 rd boxes of CCI mini magi's. The only rounds thru it are the two boxes of Vipers. I'd guess it to be 98% or better.
But I just saw a youtube on one of these shooting. Very different to say the least. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfeKdAXewyE

Congratulations on your find. The 887 was my first rifle. I sure had a lot of fun with that thing. I would shoot two bricks of Federal Lightings in a day back then, with an occasional box of mini-mags. I shot the living daylights out of that rifle, until it developed an impish habit of slam-firing seven or eight rounds when I gently squeezed the trigger. The screws that held the trigger group to the receiver would work their way loose during a shooting session. That would leave the sear too low to engage and the rifle would run wild until it jammed. The fact that I would tear the rifle down to component parts when I cleaned it didn’t help the problem.

I eventually changed to a 10/22, but I still have that 887. As I recall, I bought it through the Montgomery Ward’s catalog for about $60 in 1979 or so.

I recommend a little loc-tite on the screws if you plan to shoot it much.
