Been hanging around on the sideline here reading a lot of post on casting.trying to decide if I would like to start casting? Yes one day no the next well after reading so many post something leaked out of the screen and got on me and I can't get it off. I THINK IT MUST BE LEAD! I took the plunge and ordered 4th edition Lyman guess that's a good start. I have loaded 240 swc store bought in my 44 mag. after trying several different loads I really like the cast bullets.so now I guess there is no turning back. Thanks guys! I will be back im sure with lots of questions.

I shoot a colt anaconda. Pictures - we need pictures!

Just for giggle, you might try paper patching for it. No real benifit, just a bit of fun, is all.

I had a 44 mag Federal Marshall. It's a copy of one of the early Colts, I think. Anyway, it shot better with crappy looking soft-ish lead I got from under the refractory floor of an aluminum remelting furnace when it was relined. It cast a dull grey from the mold. It would have had traces of all kinds of elements used in aluminum alloying

Yes, in a couple months you'll be sick with the Galina fever like the rest of us. I'm working up loads also for the 44 mag. You gotta love the recoil they have, makes me feel ALIVE not just alive.

I found an accuracy load with Unique and the 310 grain 9.5- 10 grains loaded long.
240 grain SWC 8.5 grs loaded long

Yes I will work with the correct powder someday, but I was determined to find a Unique load for those boolits

Next; 2400, 296, H110, Lil Gun for some hunting loads.

Don't think all of us around here are experts, I learn something new almost every day. There are some very intriguing/intelligent people here that can help, so don't hesitate to ask questions. Welcome.

Dirtdggr, the truth has been spoken about what you've gotten yourself into now!

I spent the afternoon lobbing 535-grain paper-patched boolits downrange, 46 grains of Reloder 7 in a .45/90 will make you feel pretty danged ALIVE too, after 40 rounds or so.

Dirtdgger, I’m sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis of Plumbum fever. Although there are no known cures, it can be controlled with proper medication.

Welcome to the treatment center.

My name is Gary and I'm a castaholic. Common symptoms: hoarding of all things lead or tin, starting fires in the yard while melting lead or lube, shooting large quantities of ammunition, going to the thrift store to find bargains for the addiction, sending away large quantities of money for molds that really aren't needed.

Welcome DD, you have already taken the first and most important step; admitting you are powerless over PB.

"One day at a time" now it will get better so just " Keep coming g back."

If anyone finds a cure, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF. I don't want to get better.
