Can't help myself, Must ask before anybody else does: Can I get this in brass? With a round nose? And in .425 to fit a European 44-40 my uncle brought back from WW II? There. I feel much better now.

I'll take a standard 5 cavity. Thanks!

i was doing some research on this mold. the thread i found from the first run of these molds had a couple of complaints about the size of the front driving band(not wide enuff). swede posted that he was having a new cutter made for this mold with a larger driving band
quote
(The top band got by me on this one.
If any of you don't want you mould
send it back and I will refund your money.

Having a new form tool cut with the right
band. But with the schedule like it is it will be hard to
rerun the whole buy.)quote

can you give me any details on this?
thank you sir

Blammer, please withdraw me from this GB since I'm picking up an earlier NOE specimen from Tony.

BTW, Swede, the 360-200 LSWC is an absolute dandy, and now that I've figured out how to check all your GB's, I'm looking forward to the 452-230 RFHP, 358477 150g SWCHP, and the upcoming British 360-200 LRN. I see I just missed out on the 360160 SWC, so will keep my eyes open to see if you have an extra HP version in Dec-Jan, as it should make a beautiful "FBI load" equivalent for my Model 10. Looking over your list of GB molds reminds me of pre-Xmas poring over the old Sear's catalogue about 40 years ago. . . :-)

Might need to check your browser becasue you should see three pictures. One of some finished bullets One of the SWC and one with the hollow points showing all measurements. Looks like a 434 Diameter with square lube groves.

I love my 429421 2-cav mold from a previous run. A 5-cav is pretty tempting!

I finally machined my two blank pins to pentagon pins. I'd like to play with the pin design a bit. Can you tell me how to get four more pins, Darrell? Should I just ask SwedeNelson directly?

Thanks,

I hope to get a couple more sets of blank HP pins to play with when SwedeNelson does this run.

I shot some gelatin through a heavy leather jacket and two layers of denim with an NOE 429421 cast bullet using the supplied conical pins and WW alloy. Velocity from my Taurus 44 Special was 911 fps. I can't find the photos right now but the nose of the bullet blew up and fragmented from the bottom of the HP well forward. The remaining wad cutter shaped slug traveled 18-1/2 inches through the gelatin.

This might actually provide decent terminal performance for hunting deer, but I'm interested in expansion instead of fragmentation. I've read elsewhere that WW Keith style HP bullets tend to blow up like this when cast in WW.

Here's my first attempt at an alternate HP. I suspect these will blow up too, because I kept the length, taper, and size of the pin about the same as the conical pin. The next thing I'll try will be reducing the depth of the HP cavity and perhaps decreasing the diameter slightly too. I guess if my gelatin testing reveals that this tapered pentagon HP bullet blows up, I'll just chuck the pins back up in my mini-rotary table and remove more pin material with my Harbor Freight mini-mill.

H.Callahan

I suspect that we are getting close. I was in on the group buy that was just ahead of the one listed as being just ahead of this buy. I got my mold a few weeks ago and I was one of the last shipped (it was an aluminum or brass option and the brass were done last). Unless they have been playing poker in the shop (just kidding, Swede), they should be done or close to done with the run ahead of us.

No worries.

I can only speak for myself and I don't want to sound rude, but if I wanted it right now I would have taken my chances with an off the shelf commerical mold.
What few molds I have are a joy to use. They make great bullets that work flawless.

Growing pains are expected. Please don't sacrfice quality for speed. Keep up the good work.

Thanks,
Stacy

I have over 30 of these NOE molds and every single one of them were well worth the wait. Maybe just get rid of the schedule and just send out payment request when a mold is a month out from being done? It's what the competition does! Just saying

Keep up the good work Swede,
