I have the use of a RCBS 6.5 mould that cast a .263 bullet using air cooled WW. I need to get a .269 bullet for use in my 6.5 Arisaka. Is this asking to much?

I've gone as large as .005", with a Lee two cavity. However, you might consider returning it to RCBS, so they can make it right.

Going that far, I would say either return it or lap it out. Beagling that for will put thing considerably out of round dropping and won't likely get a good seal on the narrow cross-section.

does RCBS enlarge existing molds? if so, what do they charge for this service?

Mould is about 20 years old. The guy that is letting me use it said he got it knew but I am the first to use it. I don't think RCBS would do much for me.

Call them and ask. Worse they can do is say no. Doesn't cost much to find out, does it?

Beagleing that much may well work. Only your gun can tell you for sure.

"I don't think RCBS would do much for me."

You'd be surprised what RCBS has done for many of us.

Just sent a e-mail will see what happens.
I do know Lyman is not getting my business anymore. Had a bullet mould that I was given as a gift new old stock. They would not do a thing for me even tho it was making undersize bullets and the spur plate stop pin fell out after making 6 bullets. Said sorry Mould to old to help you.

just received this:

Sorry we cannot enlarge a mould that is already cut

Thank you,

EDIT: i followed up by asking if they could make a brand new, custom size (.003" larger) of an existing mold design and they also said "no"

I thought both of these possibilities should be as easy as simply mounting the existing cherry on an eccentric (?)

When I inquired about fixing a mould that drops too skinny, RCBS said to send it in. It's not one of my "go to" moulds, so I've, yet to ship it off.

Yes, it was listed to drop at least a .264 bullet or a .001 larger bullet.

RCBS phoned today, They said they no longer make the 6.5 140gr flat nose bullet mould. They do not enlarge moulds. However the nice lady did offer me a new mould in any cal for free. I told her to send me the RCB 140gr 6.5 they now make. The nice lady is giving me a top punch for free to go along with it.

So...looks like you'll be needing some foil tape. Shoot me a PM and I'll be glad to send you some.

I am hopeful this mould makes a little larger then the last one.

I received a new 6.5 mould today. It is the 6.5 silhouette since the 140gr fp is no longer made. It cast a .266 bullet from WW so it should be easy to beagle up to to .268 that I need.
Rcbs is the best.
