I am wanting to use this in a .308 Win stealth for a varmint ***. deer load ....my question is more to do with the loading of the bullet it's self...I am using RCBS die's and the nose of the bullet gets realy deformed apon seating it!
is this common ? how do I fix it?

thanks so much for your time and help Jonathan

Quite common. Your seating stem is designed for pointy jacketed bullets. You need to have a new one made. I'm sure someone on the forum can help you out. Also your case necks are probably too tight. An "M" die would solve this.

SamIf you have an extra seating stem, use epoxy and make it perfectly fit the nose of your bullet. A little daub'll do you.

You might also use a .31 M- die so there isn't too much case neck tension when seating the bullet.

+1 on the epoxy and less neck tension. Worked perfect for me.

would I be right in the asumption that I would remove the seating stem and degrease it, mix a small amount of JB weld two part apoxy and form a cube insert onto end of stem and gently force a oiled cast bulltet into it to create the seating die head shape...let cure and reasemble
anm I missing anything or do i have this right?
thanks so much folks!

Jonathan,
You have it down pat.

Also, you may need flare the neck with a pair of needle nose pliers pushed in
and twisted a bit, or a Lee Universal Flaring Die or the Lyman "M" die which
expands the whole neck a bit larger than normal and will push an oversized
shoulder into the neck maybe .020-.030 to make starting easier.

sounds great ...I am going to try to pick up a used .308 die for the mods and I will report back!
