***THIS BUY IS NOW CLOSED. THANKS FOLKS!***
This buy will be for the NOE 160 / 180 Grain .40 S&W/10mm Round Nose. This buy is on the schedule for April 2012.
NOE is willing to offer a choice between 160 and 180 grain boolits on this buy. Only one weight per block, so no mixed 160/180 cavities, but there will be a choice of 160 or 180 grain boolits for each mould. There will also be a bevel base option for the 180 grain boolit, but it will weigh about 190 grains with the BB, still 180 grains as the PB. RG moulds will only be available with the 160 grain weight.
Here are the pics of the design:

The hollow point version of the 180 grain would be the same as the 160 grain, just slightly longer, and probably around 170 grains. When posting, please let me know which weight you want. We can mix and match weights to get the required 15 orders, we just can't mix and match weights in moulds.
PLEASE NOTE, NOE HAS DETERMINED THAT THE RG MOULDS WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE IN THE 160/150 WEIGHT DUE TO THE DIFFERENCE IN PINS REQUIRED FOR THE HEAVIER WEIGHT BOOLIT IN RG FORMAT. THE 180 GRAIN BOOLIT WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE IN STANDARD FORMAT, BUT THOSE MOULDS MAY BE HOLLOWPOINTED FOR THE EXTRA $35/CAVITY COST. SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION. ANYONE WHO IS LISTED FOR A RG MOULD IN THE 180 WEIGHT, PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO, SINCE THE RG ISN'T AVAILABLE IN THAT WEIGHT. THANKS.

Ok, I have been looking at the drawing and I need to get this to load at 1.260" OAL in my 10mm. Since my brass is .991" long it looks like I will be into the ogive of the bullet by about ten thousandths.
I am not sure if this will pose a problem? Is there something I am overlooking on this?

Use the RG version. The hollow point should put you right where you want.

It's ok, I want the extra bullet weight. I'll stay with the round nose and just seat them as close to SAAMI spec as I can get. There ought to be room in my Glock and 1911 mags for the difference in length.

Seems we are getting close to the minimum order.. cool.. If I didn't already have a 185 ish RN I'd go for the heavier weight also.. I didn't even realize that it had gone into Group buy mode..

We are at 15, so I'll contact NOE and see about getting us on the schedule. Bump for interest.

Groo here
Looks like the nose will need to be shortened to work in a 10mm..
Lets get this checked before production or this will be a 40S&W only bullet..
I want it for 10 mm...
Max case length .992 in Speer Trim to .982 Max cart length 1.260 [many load 1.250]
PS. Double stack mags [like glock] can take longer shells but the 1911 is shorter in the mag,
a 38 super is max at 1.28 with a smaller round nose.

I also plan to use this for 10mm (and .40). Glad you caught that one shaggy. I'd prefer not to be seated below the ogive.
Keep us posted.

Wondering why it wouldn't work in a 10 mm if it works in a 40 S&W?
SwedeNelson
07-19-2011, 09:23 AM
Did a complete review of the design.
The nose is long to work as intended.
I used the wrong OAL in my calculations.
Have forwarded new drawings to Landric
that should work great.

Thanks for the catch.

Extrapolation from available data is probably the best answer. So long as one is careful, and understands what one is doing, it works pretty well.
There are also programs available for folks who are into that sort of newfangled stuff. :bigsmyl2:

I'd use Data for the 165.. in fact, depending on your alloy, your 160 might come out to 165 anyway. If you can't find data on the 165, then use either 170 or 180.

I wasn't on this group buy, but benefited from the extras. It took me 15 minutes to start casting perfect bullets after I realized the mold liked being hotter than what I'd thought. They cast and loaded perfectly unlike the mold this one replaced. I ordered it on a Saturday and Swede had it in the mail that afternoon. I got it Monday. Swede is a diligent business man. A+
