I dont think there is any better feeling on the planet than making a kill with a boolit you made yourself.

Good job.

Ah Yes!! The first cast boolit kill! I made mine just recently as well. (a smallish fox at 20-25 yards with the Ruger Blackhawk 45 Colt, Lee 452-300-f) Yes!! DRT with a half dollar sized hole through him.
Congratulations and welcome to the dark side.[smilie=w:

lol...only one shot was needed and I put the empty and a live round on the critters chest for the photo....thanks for all the kind words and I have to agree re shooting with your own rolled amo is a blast and I have been doing that for 15 years but making the bullet in that home rollie is even sweeter!
I can't wait till the next cast bullet critter encounter!

You just never know John... You just never know.... I've heard that a riled up GHog can give a Rabid Pitbull a run for its money!

you need enough gun to "Break It Down" and give you time for a follow up if needed.

those rodents scare the oats out of me

Am I the only one that does not think there is enough blood for all that gun? I think he scared it to death.

[smilie=l: too funny...no there was blood i moved it for the pick and the enterance wasa quarter sizeand exit was a silver dollar or a loonie size for the canuks!
I think that if I lined up 50 of them and found the bullet I would be able to reload it and shoot it again as they are super hard cast!

the little birds are woodcock and they are..were great!
as for the Geese I kill between 275 on a slow year to over 400 on good years and I have eaten them almost every way one could think of ..our family fav has got to be Sausage and jerky...but my wife said that if I mix goose brest and pork in 3-1 grind she will use it rather then ground beef!
hope this helps but if not let me know and I will e-mail you some of my recipies

:CastBoolitsisbest:EMC45,
Thanks for the kind words ...as for the Redfield so far so good.
I do like the hold over lines as it is pretty easy to get a 50yard zero and then a second___ is good for 75-110yards the third is good for 150 and the heavy post is (for my load and gun) bang on at 250 and 1' low at 300yards ....i do like the scope but I have the earge to keep this gun as a bear gun and the shoots are going to be up close and personal so for that reason I am putting on combat type ghost rings with battle and fine apeture I will put the red field back on a slug gun!

1kshooter,
Man, that's gotta be at least a ten, maybe 12 pounder! How big was he before you let the air out of him?
Congrats,

I do not remember for sure what my first kill with a bullet was??? but it was a 38/357 model 28 pistol. Most likely it was chipmunk those nasty things that burrow under shed and cabin. Now you got me thinking maybe it is to early in the morning? (6:43 am)

:D that would be about the same comparison ....357 chippy and 45-70Gov g-hog!

Oh when I got my 1911 that was when chipmunk population plummeted it was not boolits or even reloads but WWII steel cased 230 gr ball ammo with very corrosive primers. I had thousands of them and used them up in under two years. Some of those rounds would go so slow you could almost see them In the right light I witnessed a chippy move its head out of the way and chatter at me so I learned to shoot them in the belly (when they stand) the body was not quick enough and it would deflate them instantly. That was 1978& 9 there numbers still have not gotten that high again! I used to be able to get at least 10 chipmunks in the morning alone around the cabin. Now I probably would not get that many in a week.

1kshooter If you are referring to shear numbers of animals they are still out there just not around cabin While Partridge hunting a mile and a half south of there last fall I probably saw 200 chipmunks in 2 hours. If someone wants to thin them they were on the east side of Haskell lake In Clare county. Did not see a single Pat but did see 8 deer and 4 bow hunters in trees something I always thought was a BAD idea in a area were people bird hunt.
