The last couple of batches of alloy I mixed up were 9lbs. w/w mixed with 1 lb 50/50 solder. Should be #2 around 14-15 bhn. I tested the ingots, poured a couple of boolits of differant sizes, and they are all testing 11- 12 now. I shoot mostly GC boolits so being softer is fine with me. I know the 50/50 solder is what it is, So the w/w must be a differant alloy to start with. The w/w are testing around 15 straight, a/cooled.

When were you testing, right after you poured? They should harden up a couple BHN after sittin for a while.

WWs are inconsistant and are made of different alloys according to manufacturer I'm sure they change over the years too. Ike stated though they will harden up more if you wait awhile to test them. You could also water drop them to make them harder.

I tested them about 2 hrs. after they cooled, I'll check them again in a week.

Two hours isn't long enough. A week to ten days will give a better picture of what they will be.

I have boolits that I can did a thumbnail into if I push right after casting. 10 days later I can't even dig in.

I believe if you buy an alloy certified as #2 it would be the same as the 1960"s formula. WW are no longer the same alloy as 45 years ago. The good news is that acww work for the majority of my shooting and should do the same for you. Special hunting alloys are used for very few shots a year.
